As most may have noticed by now, Gamespy has gone away. Epic will now be running it's own master server in house so you will need to update your game with this patch in order to play online. This is for the retail version of the game as the steam version will get the patch automatically if you have your game set to keep updated. While it is rather easy to set up, if anyone is unsure or needs some guidance please post here and we will try to help. Also if you encounter any issues, please post them here as well.
You will need to be patched to version 2.1(Patch 5) for this to work.
The patch will be more of a replacement UT3.exe than a patch in the traditional sense and once it's time to patch you will be able to download as a .zip file. We will merely be replacing the original UT3 executable in the binaries folder with the new one that will point you to the new master server rather than the Gamespy server. Just a matter of unzipping it and dropping it in place.
For example, I use Windows 7 64 bit so I navigate to, C:\Program Files (x86)\Unreal Tournament 3\Binaries, once there I simply drag and drop the new UT3.exe into the folder. When the screen pops up asking me what I would like to do, I select move and replace as my option. This will replace the old .exe file with the new one. If you are unsure about doing this manually, please use the RATTLEsn4k3 version posted below. You will now be directed to the new master server whenever you start your game.
Once you have the new .exe and go to log on it will tell you that username and password are wrong. You will need to recreate any and all of your usernames on the new master server as all of the ones you have registered on Gamespy will go away with Gamespy. You can use the same names as before and even the same passwords, you just need to have them registered on the new server now instead of Gamespy.
You will want to make sure that you are logged in as administrator on your PC when installing this patch, and when running the game. Not everyone has had issues related to this but it should be the first thing you check if you are having issues connecting or getting the game to patch. There is a way to ensure that the game is always ran with admin privileges, you can find info on that here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/m.../ff431742.aspx
For those of you that are unsure about doing this, RATTLEsn4k3 has turned this into a nice little executable for everyone to use that will patch it for you without the need to replace the original exe manually. You can get that here:

This patch will also work with the steam version of the game if you wish to go ahead and use it also. Just have to go a little deeper to get to the original. Such as for me I had to go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Unreal Tournament 3\Binaries to get to mine in windows 7 64 bit. RATTLEsn4k3 has also made an auto patcher for the Steam version as well if you do not want update manually and are having issues with Steam doing it for you.

Server Patches:
This will apply to servers as well, they will need to have the new .exe and all Gamespy usernames will need to be recreated or replaced in the command line as well. The larger server providers should be able to handle this for you but please contact your provider if you are unsure. In the event that you run your own server on your own box, you will need to patch this as well. There is a separate patch for servers
