Gamespy Patch Info

Apologize if this has already been addressed, but you have to already have your game updated to UT3's 2.1 patch before applying this patch. I recently got a new build with Windows 8 and hadn't reinstalled all the previous patches yet, and the new patch was crashing without the 2.1 update. Worked afterwards.

Also, why can't we register nicks with symbols? My previous gamespy user name was Infra`, but when I tried that just now it said it was an invalid user name b/c of the "`".

Edit: did not mean to imply having to install each previous patch, just have to install 2.1

The new master server is just a bit defensive over what characters are/aren't allowed, in various strings - as a security best practice.

I bet your clicking on your old EXE. I had to make a new short-cut for my desk top screen...

I pasted over the Original EXE and ran it from the new exe not the old shortcut, fresh install worked

Have not encountered this issue with the new patch.

It's showing up, along with several other DM servers. Must have been a temporary hiccup.

I'm using NFO and have the same problem. I've tried a variety of new server login Ids and passwords and it's still not showing up in the server browser.

I had one server that for some reason required me to reinstall patch 2.1 before installing the new exe before it would take off. Or at least that is what I think made it start working as I am not a very patient person. I always shut the servers down first, installed the new exe, waited a few minutes and restarted the server. I also used the same login and passwords after recreating them on the new master server from in game though. I didn't try different ones because I didn't want to have to change the command lines.


Edit: I also installed the exploit patch again after the 2.1 patch but before the new exe.
