UT3 Fixes and the Official Epic Servers

    Hey all,

I just finished up and posted my UT3 bugfix mutator, called UT3 Fixes. Check it out here: http://forums.epicgames.com/threads/...Bugfix-Mutator

Since 90% of my UT3 time is spent on Epic Warfare #2 and Epic Greed #1, I made this mutator with those servers in mind. This means that it sticks to stock UT3 as much as possible, no popups or invasive settings screens. It also makes very few changes to gameplay, aside from what the bugs fix and a few slight tweaks I thought were necessary.

Epic server frequenters, what do you guys think about putting this on the Official Epic servers? I have the OK from Flak to get it added if you guys think it would help, which would mean no more running into invisible dead vehicles, no more buggy Paladin shields, etc. Look over the list of fixes in the release thread and let me know what you think.

Yup, just downloaded it! These fixes IMO will make UT3 flow more smoothly. I remember when Orb Fix was added, and that was so much better! I think other players will agree.

I really like this mutator. Thank you!

I do have qualms about a couple of the changes you made, however, which I mentioned on your other thread.

I support the bubble movement. However we already have scheduled lag every night that we can not get fixed. A non existent redirect. A beta test might not be a good idea yet.

Lol the 12:00AM/1:00AM lag seems to be fixed with the server rebuild/move.

I shall forever remember the night I 'predicted' lag in 30 seconds and **** STARTED TYPING IN CAPS HOW DID YOU KNOW DID YOU DO IT? And nubs yelling to kick me. Good stuff.

Anything that fixes the Avril bug is ok with me. Does it fix the seemingly random length reload time as well?

I've never really noticed random reload time. It seems like it gets it right usually, i.e. if I put it away after 2 seconds of reloading, it'll take another 2 seconds once I take it out again (it's supposed to take 4 total). Any particular instance this happens?

Also for all you guys who want it on the server, please vote yes on the poll.

Awesome! I'll head over there and test it out tonight.

Unless it is an "Official" patch, it should not go on the "Official" server.

                        I echo this sentiment.

                          I muffle that sentiment.

If a patch fixes and improves the game without introducing any regressions, then its being better is better than its being "official".

                            It's not a patch, it's a mutator.
It will have to be downloaded each time the cache flushes itself.
                            Redirect=Broken atm.

It's awesome you put the effort into it, and it's deeply appreciated.
But to be honest, I think the first priority is to deal with Jarred and cheaters.
What's the point of making fixes (official or otherwise) if people keep getting driven off the official servers?
This game is in dire need of an anticheat\antispam\antihax like CSHP, UTan, Anti-Tcc Etc. Something that will help take the load off the Admin(s)
Come up with something like that, I'm sure we would all vote for it instantly.
Otherwise, I'm a little wary of any third party mutators that adjusts my basic engine mechanics due to current server conditions.
                            imho

Does Epic have an official bug list that they never got around to fixing?
if so, could someone link please?

I stand corrected. So, if a mutator fixes and improves the game, then et cetera sicut prius.

A good thing that improves the game is good.

Fair enough, however, a broken redirect is an incidental problem, unrelated to the absolute value of what this mutator provides, and it's something that will be fixed. Further, this mutator is of the kind whose content is all (or nearly all) code, which makes it many times smaller in terms of file size than most other kinds that contain "heavy" content, i.e. textures, models, audio, etc. — so even with a busted redirect it's not going to be that big a problem.

A true statement, but a false choice. One need not preclude the other.
