Corrupt repliedOriginally posted by slik_sh00ter View PostIt's worse on PS3. Blue has two nemesis, but shockingly, red doesn't have any SPMA
This is because in the editor the SPMA has the setting IgnoreonPS3=true.

slik_sh00ter repliedOriginally posted by Corrupt View PostI would like if in suspense necris they would give us the hellbender instead of the SPMA. The SPMA in that map is rather weak, they barely give a good spot to use and its wide open to fire making it an ineffective vehicle. Meanwhile they get 2 Nemesis, I would change one Nemesis for a Scavenger that way the map would be more balanced.

Corrupt repliedOriginally posted by Sly. View PostHmm, 45min is nothing unusual even these days on Suspense (though I have to admit, I never played the Necris version online, but pretty sure it's not that much different with players than the regular one, just that there are Necris vehicles too). That makes the map not even boring after all these times - personal opinion. People may disagree. Of course some more variety is always welcome.

_Lynx repliedThis doesn't really qualify as the game I experienced and is not about UT3, but still. Sometime in 2005-6 I was making a mutator inspired by OLStats, which would generate a play-by-play HTML log of a game. To test it I was running a mix of game modes with Godlike bots for the whole day, while I was away at the institute.
One day I saw a game of 6v6 CTF on some remake of CTF-November (not the stock map, this had classic layout). Regulation time quickly ran out, and when I left for institute it was well into OT. When I came back home I was surprised to see that the match was still not over! Finally I was able to see that at the end of 11th hour of the OT blue team managed to capture the flag.
I still have the log and summary of that game somewhere on my HDD.

Corrupt repliedFor me probably suspense necris and onyx coast, 45mins to 1hr after that it gets tedious.

LLonewolf repliedOh well, lets contribute for the hell of it =).
I remember once getting a bit more than 1000 points on Tankcrossing ( i fixed my goal to reach 1k and then to gtfo the server). "wtf fixing a goal and leaving then???", yes, actually server went full ret4rd mode and the timelimit/caplimit got borked somehow and the match was actually never ending!
I played 3-4 hours, reach this 1k and left, match was still running and server was a-f-a-i-r always full, i guess it lasted until the moment server got restarted it could have last 10+ hours i guess =) .

Sourpuss repliedThe game was UT99 Capture-the-Flag (back when thousands of people could be found online 24/7). The map was CTF-November on a server that did not have a time limit but a capture limit (TheGameBox.net). I remember playing for about an hour or two and then quitting to go out to dinner with my folks. When I came back people were still playing that same game! I think it ended up going on for about 4 or 5 hours until one of the teams scored a 5th cap.

Veggie_D repliedgawd... on a server with >12 players connected it should not be possible to vote for Corruption :c
or LostCause
or Morbid
or Sentinel
or RisingSun
or ...
Cramming too many players into too small or narrow a space was what ruined the quality of gameplay more than anything else that doesn't involve trolling or other asshattery.
Some of the custom stupid-maps (e.g. Microcarnage, Spambox) are plenty terrible but they could get away with high player counts because they'd always at least finish quickly. Those crazy-long matches on certain stock maps where everyone gets silly-high scores were a big waste of time and energy — when one did finally finish most everyone was just dazed for a while, like, "well I guess that was fun...." =/
But by comparison, get the right number of folks on a map well designed for that amount ... such a joy.

rek repliedKargo, and corruption seem t ostick out in my mind as maps where the match took forever. with anecdotal evidence to support such memories.
i also recall there being some rediculous long overtime matches on Feelgood.
