Well now its the end of the year, a brand new community bonus pack has been released and with the first game using the brand new Unreal Engine 4 out next year, I figured it was time to revive this old topic once again to start some new talk about the possibilitys of having a new Unreal Tournament 4 game. See what is possible with the new unreal engine 4 in the Elemental tech demo at the end of this years E3, im really looking forward to what could be possible with liquid technology such as water and lava, unfortunately UT3 lacked lava this time around, if there is to be another UT game, the lava that can be created within the new engine, or green slime and toxic waste, I can only imagine how **** impressive a new UT game in this engine would look like... Ever since i saw that tech demo, all i could think about was how good a new CTF-Magma would look like. My imagination runs wild when I start thinking about what could become of a UT4 inside the new engine, its already been 5 years since UT3 was released, the average time frame between previous UT's is around 3 years, so next year will be 6 years since the release of UT3, its lasted twice as long as any other UT game before it, and it still looks amazing even now, but now is the time for another installment in the franchise in my opinion... As mentioned before I would like to see more CTF and DM maps, war is definitely fun but I rarely play that game type myself, I play UT for its DM and CTF, the map designs are superb!!!! It looks from what i've seen of the videos for the new Unreal Engine 4, it looks quite a bit easier and user-friendly to map and create then UE3 ever was... what do you guys think?

As long as the ground movement is fast, the jumping doesn't feel as if you weight a ton, the dodging fast and the weapons typically unreal and known, I will be satisfied with the gameplay.
As long as there will be Skaarj, it is Unreal to me.
As long as it will have a Grand Tournament single player and no story, I will completely accept it as Unreal Tournament.
As long as PC is the main platform and it is optimized for such, I will be able to throughoutly enjoy it.
As long as there is a proper menu or even the Uwindow and no DRM, I will be so happy that I will freak out.
As long as maps will not focus on details only but there will be CSG based low poly looking maps (they can still look good after all) for smooth frames and worse PCs at release such as a clean look of maps, I cannot complain at all.
As long as Epic will announce UT4 and all this will be part of it...
I will go to the next store.
There will take my wallet, open it...
take out my money...
stare at the salesman or woman...
and shout:
"SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY AND GIVE ALL OF IT TO EPIC GAMES! I WANT TO PREORDER UT4 NOW!!!"
Now, will you act, Epic? Pwueeze?

UE4 gets rid of uscript which will require modders to learn a different programming language.
I really do not care about UE4. I think the graphics of UE3 such as in UDK are superb and more than enough for a UT style game where the focus should be gameplay over eye candy. The graphics of an UE3 powered game such as Borderlands 2 is good enough for me. I care more about a new UT game than what engine it uses. UE3 editor, such as in UT3, is easy to use once you know your way around. If map creation becomes easier that is great but that is not the most important aspect. A solid UT game to build custom levels and mods around is more important than ease of use.

Unless they're willing to do it right, I'd rather they just leave the series alone to be honest. I would love to see some sort of large scale community based project however. Imagine a UT-like game made by the fans, for the fans. I also agree with Ron, a UE4 Unreal Tournament title just isn't needed. A polished re-release, running on the latest version of UE3 would be the best.

Alright, let's look back for a minute, and keep both feet firmly on the ground here:
Going into 2007, the market opportunity for a UT sequel was created by the broad success of UT2004 (and UT1 before it). Unfortunately, Epic's goal-line fumble with the UT3 project means that a similar market opportunity simply does not exist this time around.
Furthermore, games at the scale of what any fan would recognize as "Unreal Tournament" cost much more to produce than they did a decade ago. Add to that the fact that the Epic of 2013 is an older, more conservative and profit-focused company than it was coming out of 2004. And even if Epic themselves had the will to create another full-blown UT, convincing a viable publisher to finance one would be harder for them now than ever before.
The realistic fan's best hope then is either of two things:
1. A reimagined production of UT, one that is severely scaled back and far cheaper to build, but still serves Epic's main purpose for UT, which is to showcase their Engine. It would contain far fewer of the brilliant and expensive art assets, just a few basic game mechanics, would lean even more heavily on community content and involvement, and could not cost much at retail, with any real profitability perhaps coming from them dripping out a stream of official DLC releases.
or
2. Nothing.
I think #1 could be a wise decision for Epic. I think #2 is a wise expectation for everyone else.

IMO UT3 is still the best competitive FPS there is bar none. First Person Shooter. There will always be a place for this genre.
It may have been a bit before its time with hardware requirements, had a huge bundle of other shooters to compete with, had an already quickly sinking publisher / AKA Midway games, even the entire UT series, the complete GOW realms, all the kings horses, all the kinds men, and Humpty Dumpty himself couldn't have saved them - don't fault anyone for that, if anything Epic did darn good job supporting UT3 considering the publishers are gone from the face of the earth, not to mention a plague of gamespy bugs. These are facts not anecdotal excuses. While the initial consolizated interface did bother me and probably was a shock for a lot of fans, it was hardly a "goal line fumble" and was ultimately corrected.
Epic announced a long time ago they would be releasing periodic installments of the Tournament every so many years, I have never, I repeat never heard them say otherwise. I have a feeling something good is in store no matter how many sensational 'doom' & 'gloom' over the top posts I read. - That's just me though, I respect everyone else's opinions just the same.

Mike Capps (in his last post at the community page) said he will help guide the ship to Na Pali...
Two possibilities:
A) Just another fun reference to make the Unreal fans smile (like Nanoblack for UT(3) fans and Imulsion for the Gearsheads).
B) Hint that there will be a new Unreal game.
I would say A), but one can never know...

In Mike Capps letter, the full quote is: "If you cut me, I think I probably bleed nanoblack and Imulsion. (Wow, just think about what mixing those would do…)". It is the part in parentheses that actually has me wondering if they are pondering a Gears vs UT idea. I hope I get a cut of the sales if it goes on sale LOL!

Again, let's keep both feet on ground, break out the rosetta stone and learn a bit about the corporate world.
Executive-speak: "I bleed nanoplaque and wanksauce"
English: "I'm dedicated to my work."
Executive-speak: "I don't have much planned"
English: "I'll be available soon."
Executive-speak: "dad ... wife ... baby ... barf"
English: "I'm an upstanding and charming fellow who won't scandalize or embarrass you."
Executive-speak: "I'm remaining on the board"
English: "With me you gain valuable connections."
Executive-speak: "I'm fortunate that with Epic's success and generosity ..."
English: "Expect to pay through the nose."
This is all these little exit statements mean. Nothing more, nothing less.
