    UT3.exe STILL NOT RESPONDING PLS HELP!!

    Dear peeps,

    I have always been a nut for UT, and at the time UT3 cam out i bought it immediately; that was some time ago and between moving houses i have lost those cd's. As i have just upgraded my pc to play the newer games i had to have UT3 so i bought it again! I install and guess what, indeed, ut3.exe not responding. I add the game to Steam and try to download and install, and even though it now installs all the DirectX and OpenAL thingies, it gives me the same issue.

    So i bought this game twice and i cant even play it, and as i wander over the net and these forums i find out that Epic is not to keen on giving support or fixing the game.

    As most peeps with the same issue i run Win7 x64 (dual core 3.2 ghz, asus gtx 550 ti, 5gb ddr2 ram).

    I have already searched for solutions and installed numerous ways. I don't have Kaspersky so that cant be it, anyhow i did exit my virus scanner and windows firewall to check if that was the problem. But still it remains the same.

    Please share with me your knowledge on how to get this work on my PC. I love the UT series, but this I find ridiculous. I bought the game twice and cant even play it, makes me want to get my money back from EPIC.

    Dont use steam, revert to xp, revert to drivers specifically issued for ut3, reinstall the game using some other version (with your original key ofc)...

      reverting to xp is not really an option as it wont run BF3.

      I have just uninstalled the steam version again and will try to install from the cd once more.

      Any idea if it would help to go back to vista x64?

          Well I use win 7 64-bit and have absolutely no problems with it...

          First thing I would ask you is do you have all the patches (Dont bother running ut3 without them)
          But since you have steam you probably do, however, steam sucks...

          Though I recommend giving us your specs since before I got my Nvidia Geforce GT 9500 back in '09, my onboard from the last computer I had wouldnt even run it.

          Also, explain in more detail what is going on when you start it up, does it just stay a black screen when you start it up? Does it sit at loading screen forever?

              Try running the UT3 shortcut as admin if you haven't tried that already. Also you didn't mention at exactly what point you get the error, do you get the error when you try to launch a game? when you first boot it up? does it manage to get to the main menu? need a lil more info, because if its after you select a map to play, it can often be a texture error with that map, where reinstalling the map or removing it can help.

                Hello everyone,

                thank you for all your response, i wasn't expecting such quick reactions but i will keep an eye on the forum more frequently.

                Now to provide you with some more information about my system and the actual problem.

                The first time I installed ut3 was through the CD, i was never asked to install or update directx, C++ etc. When trying to boot ut3.exe i just got the splash screen which only says unreal tournament 3, but it would never actually boot the game.
                After then reading about this problem, i added the game in steam and installed via steam, but this time i did get a message to install the required additional software and updates (i also installed the latest patch of UT3). Now when i boot i also get a splashscreen, slightly different due to the last patch i guess, but nothing more happens. When i click on ut3 on the task bar it shows a small window which says UT3.exe not responding and i have to force quit it.

                As it wasn't working i deleted both these versions again and installed using the cd once more, this time i manually installed all the required extra software which could be found in the UT folders (also downloaded and installed the latest patch again); still same problem as before.

                After reading that Kaspersky was causing issues i turned off my AVG and windows firewall just to make sure, but still same problem.

                I just deleted UT3 again, and erased all traces hoping that you might help and guide me to install and actually get it working.
                I don't have the issue some people had with the fact the folder of Unreal Tournament 3 isn't created, because it is. Also tried deleting the config folder and it also didn't work.

                I hope you can help me, thank you all in advance!
