    UTV would that be possible?

    Hello guys,

I was wondering if such thing would be possible in ut3 (excuse me i'm very very ignorant in coding etc)?
Plz let's avoid "it's dead blabla, so that doesn't matter blabla", when i talked with some ppl about an anticheat for ut3 i had the same answers, and finally my efforts paid off (with the valuable help of Nite) and we finally have ESLwire anticheat support for ut3 and it's know used, so why not utv ?

Sanch3z and some other guys seemed to be in the mood to code or do sthg in a sort of a community project, why not try to invest this energy in a (if possible) UTV?
I heard by someone who talked with a coder (i know it sounds meh but those 2 guys are valuable /trusty/ known very good players/person), it wouldn't be OVERMEGA HARD to do it (i really don't know i just report that i heard). So i wait for the eventual answers.
If someone could explain how basically the 2k4 utv works, that may help the topic.
So thx in advance and plz let's get focused on the original subject .

thanks but I'm not really a skilled programmer, I just know how to make VERY small stuff, mostly weapon/vehicle mods.

Are there even enough people playing UT3 that there are still cheaters? I think the cheaters mostly stick to newer and more popular titles.

Llonewolf and Crazy, for instance, are cheaters.

but since UT3 is still 75% begginers... please explain what a UTV is

Nice, a totally vague post with absolutely no explanation.

          I can vouch for this.

But yeah, anticheat is always welcome, but I find that some server admins can pick up on a cheat pretty fast. Lotta players have the base speed of players ingrained in their minds, so speedhack is out of the question. Wallhacks take longer to figure out, but suspicion will arise after repeated shombos on the flag carrier around out-of-the-way corners. Aimbots are easy to find, even good players miss some of their shots due to weapon lag.

Nice, a totally senseless post by someone that cant read correctly apparently, u should apply at school , u would fit right ROFLMAOWTFOMGWTFBBQ ....

WHat didn't you get? You can read a tittle " UTV, would that be possible?" which forum are we reading post? ah ut3 right.... SO, utv for ut3, is it possible.....
Explanation for what? i have only a vague idea of how UTV works (if i knew it why would i ask?) and i asked if coding wise, it would have been possible to do it in ut3. U need explanation for what?

-Anyway for others ppl that get it like it should:
Actually UTV is something present in ut99 and ut2k4. It allows u to watch some live matches directly ingame like if u were a spectator of this match.
The utv provider (a spectator) is in spec in this match, he relay the match data to the utv server. In order to have no spectator (it's understandable for official match) u actually join that utv server (not the game server) so u are actually in that game without being in it .
U are dependent of what the utv guy spec ofc and it's a common use to have a 30 sec delay between the real time and the UTV ( if u prefer UTV = game + 30 secs).
SO, would that be possible to code a UTV for ut3? (i don't ask to do it , i just ask if some ppl have some clues/ideas about this and if so, saying yes/no, that's it )

NP Sanch3z, but u seemed to have some coding abilities and seemed someone motivated to help this game a bit, so ur name came naturally in my mind .

I got called a hacker/cheater by 5 different regulars yesterday that I used to play with... Honestly, I did worse yesterday than my old baseline, but who cares? Those same UT3 players would still call "cheats" on anyone they don't recognize even with competent cheat detection and some server broadcast spamming "This server uses X and Y cheat detection" every 20 seconds.

This is a good initiative, but don't think that reasonably skilled players won't cry "cheats" when someone shatters their percieved "Uworldview."

yes i also face some accusations but np and i used only "the i got cheat support" as EXAMPLE for others that would come and say " i don't care and it would be useless because it's dead" (Thing at least as much expected than stupid)to show it's not because we have a tiny community that it's not worthy to increase the average quality/comfort of our game in any way possible . .

The subject is " would that be possible to make a UTV for ut3?", just askin .

                    UTV would be awesome.
                    It's a shame that UT3 doesn't have this.

UTV being like Source TV, I figure. Allows the match to be streamed live as-if it was TV. It requires extra servers usually otherwise you'll end up with uberlag. As Llone said it is watched via the game, you get the ability to fly around the map in realtime as the game happens and spec whoever you want.

Theoretically it'd be possible you just have to take the data and send it to another server that would allow people to watch as if they were specs. How? idk.

But im not sure people would put the time into coding such a feature now.

I remember watching many of the Jolt onslaught matches on UTV back in the day. I would monitor their IRC channel to get the IP and Password if needed. http://utforums.epicgames.com/showthread.php?t=489000

Here is a site that has the UTV files for download.

Yes, basically like Crazy said, it's basically about redistributing the "packet in" you got as spec to "pocket out" for the utv server that would also redistribute it multiple times to the utv spectator.
I asked an anticheat coder yesterday, he said it's surely possible but it would mean quite a lot of works, but apparently it's still possible .

I used to run a UTV server for a few 2k4 ig ctf matches back in those days. The main benefit over video streaming is that you get 100% resolution(at your screen res) with very less use of bandwidth but at the same time not allowing 50 spectators on the actual game server(and making sure they don't say something to distract the players). The spectators can chat among themselves though.

The downside over video streaming is that you need the full game to view matches, not just Flash that you can run in a browser at work.

To be succint, it's exactly like watching a demo, but in real time streaming over the internet, not from a file.

However, I am not sure of the demand for it at this point. Are there lots of live UT3 tourneys and matches that we are missing out on watching? Where?

thx for infos bluecloud, and ofc no there aren't 1561561561515 utv worthy match per week ofc but semi/final of 1v1 or 2v2 of clanbase cup could be streamed. It would be something that would help, we aren't trying to ask if it's worthy or not it would definitively be a plus. If considering ut3 state, we try to evaluate the utility of such thing regarding the activity, well let's just nvm now then ...
