how do I tone down a custom model's skin brightness and smooth the poly edges?

Uh...I put GUILE in Unreal Tournament 3, but how do I tone down his skin brightness and smooth the poly edges?

    See my post at http://utforums.epicgames.com/showthread.php?t=744148

I am only using a diffuse map and normal map...what other map should I use?

    Thanks,
    Jag

    Specular for tint and brightness.

I believe specular Power too. A higher SpecPower will give things a more sharper type shine. While a lower value will spread the light over a larger area.

btw this topic would be better suited in these subforums: http://forums.epicgames.com/forumdisplay.php?f=335

      Oh right, smoothing the model...

      What program are you using?

In 3Dmax there should be a polygon smoothing-groups thing in the poly/mesh-edit area.
In Blender 2.5 just hit spacebar and type "smooth" to find the function. Maya XSI and C4D I really have no idea.
To the best of my knowledge there isn't a way to smooth it within editor itself, though I could be wrong.
