    What was the Original Intent?

When "Unreal Tournament 2007" was just starting to be advertised i noticed that Arclite and Malcolm were in the screen shots playing within the game in different modes. Now for some reason these two Characters and their related factions/classes(Thunder Clash, Juggernaut) are no longer in the game. What was the original design that included these two beloved factions/classes and why did they end up being removed from UT3?

The head of Arclite is the so called "hidden" head you guys found, along with his shoulders, arms and boots. It was hidden because they took the Juggernauts out of the game.

      Arclite(pre-release 2005 picture):

Here is the Hidden Armor so you can compare:

The head is identical, the shoulders have been tweaked slightly and the arms and boots just have more detail/color variation.

This implies you could probably find his chest as well, so he would look more like a Juggernaut vs a Ronin.

@coolcat22 - ya i downloaded it, thanks though.

It's pretty strange how the pre release publicity stuff was saturated with shots of the new Malcolm model, then...he wasn't actually in the game as a playable character. Instead we got a rather drab ,bland assortment of nonentities, although well crafted, each as instantly forgettable as the other. With UT2004 the characters were so many and varied you identified certain players with their characters, in UT3 that linked name/character thing has never really happened, although demoguy bug has a lot to answer for..

On the subject of playable UT3 characters only, I'd go along with those who say UT3 is like Ut2004 with all the fun and colour sucked out of it.

I think maybe it was to create an unreal game to be similar to UT2004 but without the "being able to jump 50 feet in two keystrokes". Plus a new warfare gametype which they didn't include in their demo which was a HUGE mistake on their part. They rushed the full game out the door after just two weeks of a demo being out, who knows why. And I guess they were trying to make it feel more like UT1 and create something other than egypt themed stuff because that's what people didn't really like about UT2004, too much egypt ****.

Well, I don't really like the Egypt stuff that much (I prefer UT99 & Unreal style) but the Necris stuff is really worse! In this case I'd even prefer Egypt style. If they'd like to make it look like UT99 they should have made maps with Unreal style (Nali Temples for example) and a rusty/old industrial style and cities (maps on and in buildings like DM-Crane, CTF-High, DM-Tempest) instead of this dark Necris tech stuff, ruins etc...
which is really depressive imo.. That's why I prefer custom colorful maps -not stock maps

              But back 2 topic.
I think they wanted to include them to attract UT2004 players. Midway had financial problems and that's why they released it before they could finish this stuff. That's my theory. But it looks like it didn't help Midway -they are bankrupt now.
I think there are many UT3 players who think: "This game would have been way better if they took more time for development and finetuning." and some others think that this game is a 2nd UT2k3. I think this supports this theory a lot.

Presumably, they were being heavily pressured by Midway who wanted the game on store shelves in plenty of time for Christmas. As a practical matter, it was a horrible time to release a new game with titles like The Orange Box, COD4: Modern Warfare, and Crysis also hitting the market. (It would have been better to polish it up and release it months later.)

It's interesting that they still haven't included the Johnson face in the game, if it's usable, why not? Though you could ask the same thing of Malcolm, heck they even have that giant statue of him in their HQ. You'd think he'd be in the game. :/
