I didn't realise it was released like that , now I at least understand a bit more now ...... regardless of all that , it's still awesome to play.
I love it , wish I started playing this game earlier

Sourpuss repliedKaotrix, if you saw the condition UT3 was in when it was released back in November 2007, it might be easier to understand. When it was released you couldn't even add favorites to the server browser! It felt like an unpolished and half-finished buggy beta that was rushed by market in time for Christmas. (Ironically, this was an awful thing to do--to release a substandard product when there would be direct competition from other excellent titles such as COD4, The Orange Box, and Crysis.)
People are angry because they feel that Epic essentially killed the UT franchise by releasing what was, in essence, a heavily consolized version for the PC. Aside from problems with the user interface, server browser, and file structure, UT3's game play had its own problems. The basic game play and feel itself isn't bad, but it is inferior to that of UT99 and UT 2004 in various ways. (For example, the vehicles in UT 2004 are much better than those in UT3 and when it was released you couldn't reload almost empty guns by using the throw weapon command.) Whenever I load it up I am left thinking to myself, "What a shame."

I have 3 copies of UT2004 (bought the second and third as I felt Epic were due some more cash for all the enjoyment I was getting from it), and 2 copies of UT3 (bought in hope that UT3 would be better than UT2004, as a thank-you for ut2004 but in the understanding that it might not be)
I still play more ut2004 than any other game.
I have no pirated games, but do understand the justification that people use "to check out" a game before buying. I've bought games which had had rave reviews but were rubbish. I felt cheated.
It's like with Final Fantasy XIII. It's not a bad game but the group of people who are dissatisfied with it are very vocal and generally convey absurd statements about it (i.e.: "worst game ever made!!", "this game causes cancer!!").
Also, I find it a bit irrational to purchase multiple copies of the same game (for the same platform) unless you give away those extra copies to your friends.

Ga-Reef repliedEven on their worst day UT3 vehicles could kick UT2k4's vehicles' butts! I'm still waiting for someone to make UT3 vs. UT2k4 Mod so we can settle this once and for all. D=<
Bring it!

IzaFly repliedAlright guys. Still a shame, but I'll keep the 2k4 heart pumping and I'll keep starring at the UT3 SE tin box I have as a cool what it could have been token to my gaming history. In the mean time, we all can certainly hope for a UT4 that will fix everything, right?

Sanch3z repliedI'd have to 100% agree with Sourpuss about the vehicles. I think most of the mechanics behind the on foot play(DM aspect) to be pretty to very good (This is regardless of if a dodge jump mutator is used or not) with the exception of some shots randomly not registering.
Countdown nodes are cool too except, IMO, when they are used to spawn some overpowered vehicle = WAR-Serenity. The Floodgate node is the most enjoyable version of a countdown node IMO.

Sourpuss replied1) UI still look like a console?
Yes.
2) Did we ever get UT2k4 browser functionality?
No. The server browser in its current state is much better than it was upon release, but you still can't summon it up while you are on a server. Instead you first have to disconnect from the server. It's also still inferior to the UT 2004 browser; it still feels consolized. It doesn't really matter that much because (last I checked) few people play UT3 and so there aren't that many servers to browse anyway, at least not many populated servers.
3) Has Webadmin become as functional as webadmin for UT2k4?
Does UT3 even have a Webadmin?
5) Did anyone ever finally fix the Bender's power meter? LOL[/QUOTE]
The Hellbender is one of the vehicles that is far inferior in UT3 compared to the UT 2004 version. (I could pretty much say that for just about all of the vehicles, though.)
To be honest, I think you'll have more fun playing Onslaught at the Omnip)o(tents and DW servers than you will UT3 Warfare. They also have lots of custom maps which you won't find much of in UT3. I played Warfare for a couple months and enjoyed it but concluded that UT 2004's Onslaught was much better after the novelty of UT3 wore off. Warfare does have a few positives however--the countdown nodes, the hoverboard, and (depending on your tastes) the orb.

I've been sooo curious what you have been up to. What a shame that UT3 is in the state that it is in LOL.
Hey, what state are you in anyways? I'm having a UT2k4 LAN party at my house around July/August. Do you still have 2k4 installed?
I have NOT gotten tired of it at all. As a matter of fact, I find myself playing it till 4AM every once in a while. Even if it is just Torlan, there are still a few good peeps out there. Ice is always on the DW server.
BTW, I still keep in contact with Homer, Ice, Kiss, and Deadsoul. These guys are always playing EVE and I'm still in there every once in a while.
BTWp2, I'm waiting for someone to just grab UT2k4 and update its graphics.

Oldskool0482 repliedThe only NA war server that get populated is the Titan one, and to be honest that version of warfare sucks ***, and as its already been said it distorts war and map fundamentals. You can't find regular warfare in the evenings unless someone starts the server up, which no one wants to do so it stays with very low numbers. I have checked every evening for the past 3-4 weeks and I think the most i have seen in the non titan warfare servers has been the max of maybe 6 players (Thats for NA Servers mind you) and that is once in a blue moon.
