Calling all Warfare Clans/Teams and even players without teams

Just as the title says, I am calling all teams or clans that play warfare.

I have sent pm's out to several teams already but I may have missed some.

Can any and all team or clan leaders or captains that play warfare please contact me either via pm here or at FN.

I am gauging interest in a Large and Awesome WARFARE tournament at FN.


The tournament will have $125 sponsored by FN for prize payouts PLUS any additional money gathered from the entrance fee.

I would like to get a min of 6 teams but I am sure we can swing 8 teams easy enough with some arm twisting (jk). Maybe even more.

It would be $5 per person for a 6v6 tournament. If there is enough interest we might make it higher like 7v7 or 8v8.

Does that sound like a lot of money to pay? Maybe, but this will be a big tournament and should be lots of fun and good competition. Also teams or clans can raise money over the next week or two, 1 or several people can process the money to FN and pass it out to rest of the team to buy in.

Also the more teams, the higher the prize payout.

When is the last time we had a good WAR tournament and had lots of fun doing it? Lets rock UT3 war once again.

Can each captain please check with your clans/teams and get some feedback. As Soon As Possible!

There has been some interest in this from at least 3 teams and I am sure most other teams would be up for the tournament. If money is an issue think about it this way:

1) How often do you play in large great tournaments for UT3 and have other people do the work of organizing it for you? All you need to do is show up. Although practice might be an option you might consider

2) When is the last time you paid $5 for a MacDonald's meal and it lasted an entire weekend? There is good value in this.

3) How many new noob teams can you help to form and encourage into this tournament to increase the money you can win? lol - seriously though, for those people that are not in clans or teams - NOW is your Chance! Get your own team together!

4) When is that last time your team could brag that you are tournament champions of Unreal Tournament 3?

5) Everyone rags on how the community is shrinking and those left are the best, well now is the time to put your money where your mouth is, literally. How would it feel if your war team was destroyed by a group of TDM'ers or vctf'ers that threw a team together at the last minute and played .....

Come on people, stop complaining that UT3 is dying, I dare you to spend 10 minutes and talk to your buddies online, Form new teams and rock this game to its core.

Any team (WAR, VCTF, TDM, GREED) that wants to play please let me know.

We have very limited amount of members at the moment so I had to remove us from the Fragged ladder If for some reason we cant get enough people for this tourney we will have to team up with some others heads in order to compete. Either way I cant wait to get down and diiiiirty! Im hoping if its not to big of a problem that you will get the live stream going too. Thanks buuuuudddy

Actually the 2v2 tournament we had this past weekend we had live video streaming, but it was last minute so not many people knew about it.

For the WAR tournay I will definitely have something in place for live streaming.

Since there are two European teams on the ladder we might as well address it now:

Where are the tournament's servers going to be located? Is the tournament for North American teams only? If not, how will ping times be handled? Will Euros be accepted as currency for entry and could payout be available in Euros?

The main problem for the EU teams will be the time to play the games(time difference is quite big).Already in the previous ladder season we had probs to find times that both EU n US teams could play.In a tournament this prob will be even worse.

I have been telling Ginger for over a week that there were not enough teams nor have many people paid.

Up until yesterday there were 3 teams signed up, with only 3 actual people paid from one fo those teams. Now there are 4 teams signed up, and 1 of those teams are fully paid. 1 is not a tournament!

The vctf tournament was already delayed due to the other torunament being pushed back and there are still not enough teams signed up, little known paid.

You cant have a prize tournament with 4 teams where one has paid and the others have not. It can not be done.

We need a tournament with 6 to 8 teams minimum, and all paid before the last day before the weekend when it is to be held.

You want to lay blame, find all those people that said they would play vctf and ask why they are not signing up or paying the entrance fee.

Very good question.

It came down to me needing to find out how much interest there is first before I can answer that.

Although most people have not provided feedback yet I believe there could be 5 or 6 North American teams that will sign up, perhaps even 2 or 3 others if I can get my whip out to some others.

The servers to be used will be clan servers, in similar fashion to the ladders, since FN relies on donated servers for play. The server however will have to be specially "donated for tournament use" by those teams/clans so that teams can practice and play on them when needed. Also the servers will all need to have the same settings and mods running.

If there is a dispute on which server to play on, then the only recourse is 2 options:

1) Play on a donated server that has the "closest" difference in pings of both teams (i.e. the teams all test the pings on one server, go to another and test the pings there, and report on an FN thread. based on those reports we can determine the best server to match pings of both teams come game time. This is all done a few days before the tournament to avoid time wastage.)

2) If there is still a dispute, then the admin of the tournament will have to choose a course of action (could be mediation between the teams to resolve the issue or choosing from the information available to make a serer choice.).

In the case of Euro Teams being a part of this, then some games will need to happen early on a Weekend. Therefore the Euro teams can play and The NA teams will have to know in advance that they may be expected to play in the middle of the day on a Sat or Sunday if required.


The whole logistics cant be ironed out yet as it is team dependent, however I can tell you that I am working on getting an East Coast Server as best I can for this tournament. This will allow slightly lower pings for Euro players and higher pings for West Coast NA players, but will even those matches out somewhat.

Also we may default to the 1v1 ladder rules where if a Euro and NA team are to play, 1 map on NA server, 1 map on Euro server and 3rd map (if needed) is either an admin picked server or the map is played twice (again once on each server).

However this is all open to discussion as well so we can get this right to begin with.

Once we get some interest we can start getting teams to donate servers for use (my personal Dallas server will be available if required, and I am working on getting a East Coast one as well just for this). Then once the servers are done, we will get teams to test pings on each and report (honestly - via screen shots if necessary) and the admins can pre-determine the server that each round match up will be played on.

I know many clans/teams would love to play on their own servers, and it may work out that way, but we need to make sure every team has every opportunity to win and will try to avoid as much as possible clear issues.

Nothing is set in stone yet, just need to get a preliminary list of teams wanting to win some cash.

Also maps will be stock maps as well, unless most teams agree to a certain custom or two that is well known and played often and not too buggy.

We will make sure all round maps are announced early to let all teams practice times before the tournament.

Also match times for the 2v2 tournament were left open for the teams to figure out, since team sizes are much larger and many more people across time zones, we may have to set match times for you.

That way you know before hand if you have a 9 pm EST on Friday and a 2pm match on Saturday so all teams can play.

We WANT a refund if the vCTF tourney has been killed.
I lay blame on the extremely poor handling of these events.
None of it was thought through.
First it was a tourney everyone got to vote on which game type and how many players, to be held on X date (The game type and amount of people should have been decided by the FN crew, NOT the community...we've all seen when that's left to happen)
Then it was split into 2v2TDM and 5v5 vCTF, both to be held on the same weekend, THEN both were delayed for a week, THEN the Tourneys were separated by a week.
THEN there's a warfare Tourney to be held on X date.
No, I don't blame the players for being tentative to sign up or for outright losing interest in a tourney that's ran by folks who can't decide if they're going left or going right.
