        I don't mean you, I mean panzerfaust, because anyone with half a brain cell who's played both maps will realize that Sanchez's is far superior. And don't flatter yourself. Sanchez exported the terrain from the 2k4 map.

        And it's a remake of ArcticStronghold. BrokeBack was the beta name, which was changed later. Thus, you would not say TooDarkPark is a remake of BrokeBackMountain because it's the exact same map just a later version with a new name.

            Your version of ArticStronghold was severely broken, how are you even gonna argue yours was better. Even if it wasn't broken TooDarkPark was still a better version IMO.

                    Please speak for yourself on that "everyone" part. IMHO most people don't care about disagreements between content creators and are just grateful for being able to enjoy it for free, regardless of the state that the author left such content

                      Even toodarkpark has several probs.For example the tank on the bridge that spawns facing one side only(weather reds r blue take the mid node).


                      I like many maps (valley,downtown necris by Bio n Cr4zy,Alien sands ,rails n many more).

                      I also like intense a lot:More like a war/bta map(the war version).Nice change if the server is 5vs5 or so.

                          Hitman, the terrain in Too Dark Park/ BrokeBack was exported from the only true version of ArcticStronghold that there ever was and ever will be which was created by Swartz in UT2k4.

                          Your version strayed quite far from the original version as far as layout and gameplay which is why I did a version that was true to the original layout.

                          Still to this day you have not fixed the bugs in your map which is another reason it was necessary to do a proper remake.

                          This is so old news, get over it already and get on with your life.

                            Sanch3z, I believe the best way is starting with small and fun maps even if they aren't the absolute best. And then as you say, add another once in a while. Unfortunately with large download sizes, often my opinion about a map quality didn't matter enough to make me wait. Most potential players that want to join your server aren't even here to vote, all they care for the first time is how long the map takes to download

                            Then I don't know what's wrong, but it doesn't make sense that maps with stock elements are often 50MB or larger. What's more, take a look at the sizes, uncompressed and 7zip:

                            LongestYard compresses 13MB -> 1.7, that's 8:1. MasterBath 15MB -> 3MB. Dreamus 9->2 and so on. otoh others only compress 1.5:1 or even less. Way too many maps UT3 maps use poor or no compression and probably include stock textures and elements. What's more, even having 20Mbit/s downloads take foreeeever.

                              I hear and understand completely what you are saying about filesize per maps and agree that smaller is best. You have to take into consideration the number of stock meshes that need to be copied to the maps package so per poly collision can be applied. Without per poly there are ton of meshes that you can partially walk into, or their stock collision is too big. Epic puts blocking volumes around everything, complex blocking volumes. That must be torture for whoever has to do that work, at least they are getting paid since it would be quite a pain in the ***.

                              Then you have custom textures and manipulated stock textures which also make up filesize.

                              It would be easy to make a very bland looking map that has a tiny filesize. Maybe "bland" isnt a good word, a better way to decribe it would be that the map would look only slightly better than a 2k4 map. In that case I would just play 2k4.

                              All of the stock UT3 maps are over 40mb............

                              IMO when a map goes over the 70mb mark, that is TOO BIG...

                                I see, I have no clue about mapping. Let me say that for me 95% of the maps out there are very worthwhile regardless of file size. Those custom map parties are the absolute best time I spent playing war and these days and I can't stand overplayed maps anymore, I rather have war-lolol-in-a-box-wiht-deemerz. But small maps are "easy" to include regardless of quality. How about picking a mix of small good ones to complement the most popular? That way, more often than not waiting time is short enough to keep most people on the server
