    Keeps asking for CD Key

Apologies if this is an old issue dealt with already. Just point me to the link with the solution and that will suffice!

It's been a while since I played UT3. At least 2 years! I recently downloaded and applied the latest patch to start playing again. Works fine except every time I reboot my PC UT3 will ask me for the CD Key to let me play. Once I type in the key it will "keep it" for as long as I don't shutdown my PC.

In skimming over some of the posts I notice that Steam is now in the picture. Is this what's causing my problem?

    Thanks.

    Regards,

    P

    what is your OS?

did you install ut3 to its default location or did you choose something other then MyDocuments?

did you install patch 2.1 aka patch 5?

    is titan content installed also?

The cd key is located in the engine.ini. Try to make that read only.Dunno for sure that it will help but u dont loose anything to try.

disabling the network card in your computer is one cause for this problem (I have it coz my notebook shuts down network card when its on batteries by default) May or may not help with your particular issue
I keep my key written down in my wallet for this reason... lol... Went away camping for 2 weeks once and didnt take the key= 2 weeks no UT3 lol

            OS is Vista Business, SP2
My install is NOT in the default location.
Patch 2.1 and Titan items installed.

The game was originally installed when it first came out so no association to Steam.

I would try DrUnKenSTeiNz suggestion first, if this does not work maybe consider letting ut3 go to the directory it wants to go to. Though it should not make a difference it would not hurt to try it, as it sounds like a hassle as it is.

anyway vista also has a lot of weird quirks as you know and it may have something to do with that also but one thing at a time huh
