Servers ?

OK now i'm totally do not have any idea servers. What are they ? What it's advantages ? can someone explain it briefly ? thnx

A server is basically a part of the game that you set up on your computer to enable other people to play the game over the internet. Without servers, there would be no game. The server controls how the game is played: what maps, what mutators, and game rules. There are two different types of servers. Dedicated and Listen. The former means you are running a special instance of the game that you don't play simultaneously. It enables more resources to be dedicated to running the server smoothly. A Listen server means you are playing a regular game as usual but it transmits your game over the net and shows up in the server browser. It "listens" for connections. People can join your game.

Most servers are of the dedicated type, because Listen servers are usually very laggy as they are running off home connections and dedicated servers usually run off larger lines.

There are two different types of servers. Dedicated and Listen

and master servers offcourse. without them you wouldnt be able to see any servers, atleast not on the internet.

im also curious if there are more multiple servers, could it be possible that there are master severs who lists servers i never heard of? maybe a japanese server :P
