Game keeps asking for cdkey

I have done a clean install and installed the titan pack. but every time i start the game it always asks for my CD key and all settings have been defaulted. this happens every time, i even downloaded the game from steam to see if it changed this issue but i got the same thing. Please help as enetering the cd key every time and setting up the settings is a pain . plus one other thing. since the titan+patch all game keep telling me that i need an update but as far as i can tell i have the latest version. help? my documents and settings is on drive D: my game is installed on drive G: i am running XP SP3 PC Spec Q6600 2 gig ram 8800 ultra graphics card

this can be an issue with your network card, On my notebook it deactivates the network card when running on batteries, unless i tell it otherwise (power saving feature) if that network card is deactivated UT3 will ask for your key when you fire it up. Think its an anti piracy thing, but thats at a guess. I keep a copy of my key in my wallet for this reason lol
[EDIT] However id much rather have to carry my key around than my collectors edition dvd, to play from like other games, so hey it could be worse

Im On a Tower with built in LAN. so i doubt its anything to do with my LAN. its more to do with the game not saving my settings

"my documents and settings is on drive D:" - is this where your Windows installed as well?? Seems pretty ODD for an OS drive to be D:.. tho just a question. All that stuff should be saved in .ini files and in your case its not saving it... did you set it to read only by accident? :P .. or smth.

OS is on C: Documents & Settings are on D: and Games are on G: ... I have set the read only option to off for the entire unrealtournamnet 3 folder. but it still asks for the key and restors defaults. this is starting to pi55 me off. just tell me the name of the file i need to look at and where it is.

Lol I have an usb wireless lan stick and when it isnt in the pc it asks for the cd key and when I put it in it works.

But the stick has no connection and it doesnt work anymore
