Will the expansion give UT3 a decent bot menu?

You know, like we used to have in UT2004, with drag & drop avatars, separate fields for red & blue team, and a submenu with config options for each bot. The current minimalistic bot selection menu isn't exactly a joy to use, to put it mildly, and many options are simply missing. For me at least it would be the icing on the Titan cake.

It's called the Roster. It would be nice to be able to customize each bot.

The game shouldn't rely on 3rd party mods (that most people don't know about or bother to download) for basic features like a bot management menu. UT99 had it, as did UT2K4, so why not UT3?

I want to hit you with a hammer. Most of the mainstream gamers don't know the meaning of the term "3rd party application". They just push that case button to turn on the computer and click the game icon on their desktop, that's all they do. That's why this game should't rely on 3rd party applications.

Careful thats tantamount to asking for the game to be dumbed down, and we know that's already happened too much.

Seriously?... His post has nothing to do with dumbing down the game. There are certain features that should be included with the game. Does excluding an FOV bar or the ability to disable vsync make the game easier? No, that is a stupid question... ...as is the notion that including customization features within the game will labotomize its gamers.

I'm more concerned with actually getting the game stable (because there are a lot of us out there that experience hard crashes despite owning fully capable systems), than I am with smaller features like this, but nonetheless, features like this should be included.

On the other hand the simple fact that Epic is even working on this game anymore is a good sign. I'm not sure improving the game to the extent Epic has makes much sense from a business perspective save for putting a bandaid on the wound that the game caused in an effort to cozy up to UT fans for the next installment of UT... ...but I seriously doubt that the Titan Pack itself will draw many more people to UT3. Steam integration will probably help a lot, but at this point I'm just happy they still care about the game.

That mapmixer is only in alpha stage right now, the designer hasn't had any issues with the new beta patch but hasn't tested it fully to see if its compatible, and mapmixer doesn't even work for me personally, it doesn't let me play a single map, go to click play and it just doesn't do anything cept turn the play button black lol.. so err, its a great idea if it can work properly, but untill then, i would also like to see epic do something with the god awful bot menu that has like 2 options...

To be correct, MapMixer is nearing Beta 2 stage and it does actually work with UT3 Patch 2.0 and will require very little alterations, apart from colour changes and the usual bug fixes that come with being in Beta. If you have having issues with MapMixer then I suggest you progress through the standard methods of determining why something doesn't work.

This is the one thing I dislike about forums. There are people that throw out opinions about issues they know little about and make them sound like facts. As Sinx states, MM works fine with the 2.0/1.4 patch. There are only very minor cosmetic issues that do not affect game play at all. These are being taken care of. MM has been beta for quite a while. A beta to Sinx functionality wise to like a final version to others. MM will solve all of your bot configuration issues and those that use it, will never go back to the vanilla UT3 Frontend.

*vouches for map mixer working like a dream, and for it's general all-round greatness*

Such control over bots is a nice-to-have feature, but it's not important to exist out-of-the-box in my opinion. Online players wont care, and offline players can easily download a 3rd party mod (enter MM) that handles such a feature.

Anybody that knows anything about unreal will be well aware of how moddable it is & what the community are capable of, and can therefore find what they require should it exist.

And those casual gamers that are not unreal savvy? Im pretty sure they wont be moping over the lack of such features, but will be busy playing what's presented to them (if they like it of course).

Just one question. Does MapMixer work on the PS3? I mean, you have to change Ini-entries to make it work.

Sorry, MapMixer is not designed to work on consoles :C I'm not sure that it would be appropriate for consoles but that's indeed a point that could be argued. I'm a bit of a PC fan-boy but I'm not so arrogant to not want to get it working for consoles, I just don't think it would be possible at this stage.

MapMixer also utilises its own 'Front End', which I imagine could be difficult to override on the PS3 in the way that MapMixer does (ini file entry) - ie, it doesn't hook into the game using the Mod system. But hey, I know very little about the PS3 side of things.
