uh, i dont think you understand how the skin thing works.

both clients have to have the skin or the person without the skin will just see the other as a random UT guy.

it cant just 'appear'...

You are..... Demo Guy! Eff Yeah! Hopefully the new patch takes care of this. I have not tried the beta. PS3 is different, it downloads from the host if there is one, but does not dl from the server. So, if you host game, people see your skin, but if you join a server, they do not. If you join a host who has the skin installed, he/she will see your skin, not sure about other players. I personally stopped using custom characters on PS3 after it messed it up 3 times, requiring me to reformar my HDD and reinstall 6 gigs of maps. Hopefully the patch will fix that as well.

Just to expand on this:

Unless you're willing to have a bunch of people on the server trying to simultaneously play the game, upload, and download multiple 10+ MB skins at once, then that's never going to happen.
