This is definitive proof they need to fix FOV.

          +1 for 4:3 / CRTs.

Use an old 19" Trinitron CRT that I run 1280x960 @ 100Hz with FOV at default 90 setting and vsync is off and FPS limiter set at 102 FPS which I'm getting constant. Since the characters will appear slightly fatter with 90 I prefer it over 100 as it seems to give a mental advantage with aiming but if I had a 16:10 display I'd probably increase it to 100.

120Hz 22" 1680x1050 LCDs are getting available now though in the US (ViewSonic VX2265WM and Samsung 2233RZ). I will probably pick up one of these whichever has less input lag & ghosting and getting available in my country. Hopefully this will be the first LCDs I can use for gaming too... 1680x1050 @ true 120Hz sure sounds nice

Find me a CRT thats 30 inches with a resolution of 2560x1600, and is a few inches thick, then we can talk about how much "superior" CRTs are.

Oh, and it has to fit on my desk too.

              That's what I use, too.

I have a 4:3 CRT TV for my PS3, and UT3 still tries to enforce a 16:9 or 16:10 aspect ratio.

                  1600x1200 @ 100Hz refresh on my G520 Trinitron.

I wonder just how many peeps with wide screen monitors run them at 4:3 aspect ratio? Did you all do know that over half the people with wide screen TVs run them at 4:3 aspect making everything look short and fat unless they are playing a 16:9 DVD? The funniest thing about that is most of the people do not even notice and when it's pointed out to them, they prefer the short and fat look to reality because the picture is too small the correct way.

                    I play on a 4:3 21" but at a 16:9 resolution (1600x900)

                        19 inch 5/4, 1280x1024 @fov 100.
Unfortunately on wide-screen displays you will receive a vertical fov penality.

1920x1080 23", not really knowing any difference apart from playing on 4;3 previously
anything above 100 FOV would probably feel weird to start with, but it could help.
