Rancur, honestly, what is it that you feel you are missing by this "limitation"? Moreover, why isn't the mutator good enough?

Maybe the game should offer the possibility of a non-widescreen resolution on a widescreen monitor, with two black bars on the sides. That way it would be equal for all involved. Don't want the bars? Then don't complain about the top and bottom bits getting cut off.

That said, I do see widescreen as the new standard, so I wouldn't consider it completely unreasonable to expect non-widescreen players to either live with a disadvantage or get with the program. 4:3 screen size was a limitation of the glass tube era and not the result of ergonomics.
This is actually a very good idea-- allow the option of widescreen.

I tend to agree with RoadKillGrill, horizontal viewing is more important than vertical. Regardless, I also agree with you that increased FOV is not an inherent advantage. It's a tradeoff.

I have a solution for the weapons being cut off: Hidden weapons.
That doesn't fix that even at 25 yards, players take up the entire vertical viewing area.

I don't mind having the option, even though I have widescreen I would still keep it at fov 100 because I think it is easier to aim.

Personally i dont think a wider fov gives any advantage nor the aspect ratio of monitor.
I guess its more about liking.
For me fov 110 is the only right one, ive played with that for years and would like to keep doing so.

The game looks, feels and plays better with 110 fov than with 100.
But thats just how i like it, and seems like many people agree with me.

Hopefully we get over 100 fov by native and dont need to use any mutators for that.
Just like all previous ut versions

Where is the mutator, I can't find it under beta or full releases?

If you go over 110 I think the sides of the screen starts to look a little distorted. I have set this mutator on my server. I think EPIC should atleast let people set up to 110.

Because that's your preference? What about the people who like it at 120?

It needs to go up to 130/140 for people that do tri-displays. Nobody likes it at 120 for a 4:3 screen because you get the fishbowl effect.

That's not true, I played iCTF at 120 for a while. I shifted it down to 110 now but to say that 4:3 players don't like higher FOVs is ignorant.
