I've been saying for a while that fraging footsoldiers(i.e players not in vehichles) in a node aream or a base that is not vulnerable, that is not connected to a node that's vulnerable shouldn't score points. If a player has a frag since spawning, there is no point protection.
Completely wrong. Ever heard of running interference? Delaying? I can go tie up an orb carrier and his teammates away from a contested node and I've done a *ton* to help my team out. If I go tie up 3 people away from a contested node, that means my team now has a serious player # advantage AT the contested node.

I understand you're probably well intentioned but... this lack of understanding the game at a more subtle level by war players always annoys me. Non DM game type? Please. If and until you learn to frag properly, you're doing yourself and your teammates a great disservice. The entire gametype is DM with some hooks (vehicles, orbs and nodes). Want to know the easiest way to take down a node? Hit it a few times to ensure no respawns, then kill the two or three people around it and sit at your leisure and finish off the node.

Warfare just fools people by allowing them to be so-so/OK without very good fragging skills. But to actually be good, I'm afraid you've got to DM it.

In addition to other two responses you got...

The maps in UT3 are bigger than the one in UT2004 were. There were lots of custom maps being played in UT2004. It didn't matter so much if the expansion packs didn't get played so much. In UT3 the size of the maps deters people from downloading custom maps when they get voted on. They tend to leave the server. So there's more of a need for expansion pack maps, which those people would be more likely to have already installed.

Maybe steam will help too. I suppose I'll have to install that one of these days.

As for the Titan, I don't know. I'm sure it'll become apparent how that's going to play out when it gets here. Epic has to do whatever they think will help, I hope it works out for them.

It should be noted that the new patch makes gametype, mutator, and map voting possible. If the server admin turns these on, it's possibly we'll be playing some Warfare with Titans or even low-gravity, insta-gib, no orbs/hoverboard, etc. If no one likes the Titans in Warfare, no one will vote for it.

I think it would be a blast to have some low-gravity, Titan Warfare though, so I'm hoping UMG and the other Warfare servers turn mutator voting on.

Does this mean people won't vote for 32 player Biohazard either because no one likes it? Or endless Suspense? xD

Well... in March 2008 I moved, had no internet for 3 months, due to some ISP ****up. After that I thought about playing again, but UT3 seemed pretty dead (does the thread still get closed for saying that? ;P), so I went back to UT04, been playing that most of the time.

Guess I'll be back for that new Titan pack, game's still installed anyway.

It's funny how people keep saying that... UT2004 is just as dead as UT3, though both are still extremely fun. I just switch back and forth between the two; if I'm having trouble finding a good server, the other game usually has one.

All that going back (once) to Ut2004 did for me , was make me realise that everything I spouted about it having vastly superior gameplay to Ut3, was in fact deeply wrong and stupid

                        Oh and D2fLeo welcome back

After the ECE pack came out with new maps, did people play them? Not a whole lot. Then again most of the ECE maps sucked.. but the point remains..
Further, I don't think Epic's decision to put their Warfare server on an infinite Torlan loop will help to encourage people to play a wider variety maps.

You must only play in pubs. Spawnkilling is a viable, and sometimes necessary tactic to winning matches. Learn to defend yourself. There are only two things a spawnkiller can do - help their team win, or waste resources.

A tactic that is not fun for all involved (including the ones on the receiving end) should not be made viable.

losing is not fun but somone has to lose.If spawn kiling really rubs you the wrong way and you can find enough people who agree then create you server and moderate it so that people don't do it.It may take some extra effort on your part but removing the ability to kill people in bases will probably not happen because the majority support it.
