    Logitech G15 Keyboard (2007 Rev2) and UT3?

I'm considering purchasing a 2007 revision 2 version of the Logitech G15 Keyboard with amber lights and non-movable LCD. Are there any UT3 players here using this keyboard and are there any issues using it with the game? Thanks ahead of time for your input...

Also, how are the backlit keys constructed? Are the letter openings just cut through openings or are the keys painted black except for the letters? Do they wear off over time? I posted this question on the Logitech forums several days ago and no support person or user has replied yet.

If the letters were "cut through openings" it would not be very comfortable to use, so I guess it would have to be clear plastic. I don't see how you would wear them off if this is the case, but best wait for someone who has one to answer.

I have the G-15 V1 keyboard and have absolutely no trouble at all. I dont use anything special for UT3 other than binding some of my weapons onto the g keys. As for the keys, they are indeed painted but I have had no fading at all on any key, including the most used keys of all, w a s d. I believe some people had fading issues with the early release of the V1 board but they were fixed in subsequent releases. For a time reference for ya, my keyboard is about 1 1/2 years old. I could not recommend the keyboard enough.

Here is a really good website for ya for more questions, if you have them.

The "G" keys are very good in UT3 because you can macro-record commands. For instance, when I press G15, it automatically says "Please Heal Tank" to my teammates. I highly recommend buying the G15 keyboard.

Thanks, now just waiting for a good sale price to spend my Xmas money on. Best Buy just ended a sale this past weekend that I missed.

How did you guys manage the G-Keys for UT3?
I just opened my UTInput.ini and typed the bindings:
                Bindings=(Name="NumPadSeven",Command="teamsay Goliath/Darkwalker down!")

After this I opened my Logitech software and just aligned the G-Keys.
                (Example: G10=NumPadSeven).
                Works perfectly.

I tried the text block, but I think it is not suitable.
It does not accept tab, enter etc, or?

I have both version 1 and 2 and my only advice is keep the full coffee cups away from them.

So what do you all use the macro buttons for in UT3? I haven't used a macro since the original Quake days to bind a key to do a rocket jump!

Only say bindings in 1st mode!
Of course I don't use all in every match, but at least around 4.
                      I also have a Logitech G9 with 9 buttons (G5 has 9 too^^).
There I always use all 9 buttons!
                      1. Primary Fire, 2. Secondary Fire, 3. Link Gun, 4. Shock Rifle, 5. Feign Death, 6. Use, 7. Best Weapon, 8. Avril, 9. Screenshot

That means I don't need the G15 G-keys that often, but I use them as said.
The 2nd mode is just for offline cheats (summoning, give weapon, fly, god etc - for testing things).

I have to say the G15 Rev 2 may be bad for me, because sometimes I need more than 6 G-keys.
Switching the modes while playing could be too stressful for me.

It's useless for arrow key gaming as it ghosts on arrow keys and 3/4 of the key combos I tried for release strafing ( a style whereby you hold down 2-3 keys at alll times to maintain optimum player control and accuracy ) and sends you of in erratic directions...its a toy k/b in my opinion. Typing at high speed is a mess too ... again more ghosting with 3 or more keys pressed simultaneiusly. Thats a worse keyboard wiring matrix than the 5 dollar discount keyboards offer.
Perhaps you may want to wait for the G13...and see if they have used a robust k/b matrix for it this time. It's due out in March....with multiple led colours to choose from ...and a full colour lcd.

Of course...if you are a wsad gamer ...those are the ONLY keys that dont ghost ( allows more than 2 keys pressed at once ) but that might be fine for you if you dont type alot or properly.

For outright quality...I would recommend the Razer Tarantula, Deck Legend ( if you need lots of leds), or SteelSeries 7G for reliable keyboards
Virtually every other gaming keyboard on the market uses infeior wiring matrixes that cause erratic ghosting on most keys,

I think arrow keys are nearly dead.
I also was an arrow key player long time ago.
But I think WASD just gives more possibilities.
However, I use the right hand for my mouse, not the left which could sound strange now.
(Because right hand for mouse and arrows.)
And this means I always needed a lot of place since I moved my keyboard as much as possible in left direction.
Do you think there are many other right mouse handers who use arrows?

I have the new version of the G15 (Amber keys, smaller LCD, 6 macro keys) since the beginning of this year and have had no problems with the keys fading.

I seen that you'd already purchased it, but the older ones have more macro keys.

You can record macros in-game. I've used them for things like togglescreenshotmode, tiledshot and playersonly, which are really helpful in taking screenshots.

You could very easily record team commands in-game, too.

What does the tiledshot and playersonly do? Yeah I could see it useful for stuff like screenshot, voice chatting (but hardly anyone speaks when playing unless they're mubbling cuss words to themselves like me LOL), text team chat macros, bot team orders for single player games, maybe rocket jump or hammer jump, maybe alternate strafe movement macros to evade shots and throw the shooters aim off. But I don't want to use macros for anything that would be considered any sort of robotic cheat. Where do you cross the line with macros?
