No Customisation?

Sorry If this has already been discussed but why was character customisation dropped from the 360 version of UT3?

I remember in UT99 you could customise every bot on the game with look and name but now it's all gone

Yes, this has been discussed to death already. However, the short answer is: ask Micro$oft. They require that all modifications to Xbox content be passed thru and approved by them before it can be implemented. AFAIK, before you are even eligible to get their approval for anything, you have to change your name to Luigi and get special dispensation from the Pope.

What you are not remembering correctly is there was no Xbox version of UT99 and M$ had no say regarding its content.

Thank you for clearing that up, I do hate Microsoft, shipping dodgy consoles just to get ahead of the competition...*sigh* Oh well fantastic game nevertheless

If you're asking about customizing the bots, that has nothing to do with Microsoft (dunno what Jonah's going on about). Epic didn't put any bot options in the game. Even in the PC version, you can't do squat with them, not even choose what team they'll be on. Pretty disappointing, especially considering UT3 was hyped as being a treat for the offline player.

The question was about "character customization."

On the PC this could mean either changing the appearance of your character -- helmet, goggles, torso, etc. -- or adding custom characters -- Spawn, X.E.N.O, Hel, etc. I don't have a console of any sort, so I don't know the capabilities in regard to the first, but I do know that the Xbox doesn't support custom characters as the PC and PS3 do because of M$'s policy.

So now you know that I was "going on" about at least part of the question that was actually asked.

PC add bots you choose to make teams, custom ones too, DM also add the ones you want, use console commands. Fight against 10 terminators! HideinLight knows

PS3 you can have custom characters but sometimes they cause glitching and crazy colors, sometimes worse things. 360 gets no custom content. Pretty sure like Jonah said, MS content rules.

And thank God for it, but can you imagine if UT3 had the functionality of mapmixer right out of the box? And thus available on all platforms?

Well yeah, he gave the example of UT99 bot customization to illustrate what he meant by character customization.

Hence... this is why I don't play consoles at all. Stick with PC!
