Anyone know whats in the expansion pack and how much it will cost?
I have noticed when maps like ctf-Searchlight are played, people that haven't downloaded the bonus packs tend to leave. I hope the expansion doesnt have the same effect.
Even relatively complex standard maps like ctf-Vetabrae had the effect of emptying servers until people learned their way around.
My point is people sometime dont like change in the form of new maps.
I for one will be getting the expansion if there is one.

If it fixes all of UT3's issues ala UT 2003 ---> UT 2004 and if it's marketed properly ("UT3 Online Multiplayer Extreme Edition") then it's quite possible that online player counts for the game will increase and that UT99 and UT 2004 fans who decided to pass on it might buy it and migrate to UT3.
I'm hoping that it will be a UT 2003 ----> UT 2004 type of metamorphosis and that UT3 on the PC will transform from feeling like a console port to feeling like a bona fide PC game with a user interface and server browser superior to that of UT 2004 because I truly love the UT game and the franchise, but I'm not holding my breath.

Many of us would be perfectly happy to continue playing the game--the online cybersport--that we loved to this day. I'd still happily play UT99 if it had the same online player counts it did back in 2001.
Since people do move on it's necessary to bring in new players which means releasing updated versions of the game and getting them onto store shelves and marketing them with the idea being that the people who loved the earlier games would play the new one and that the new one would retain the attention of people who are new to the franchise.

I was thinking if they got the player card thing working. Then there could be some sort of award system that shows a players accomplishments or achievements online. This would be just for the player card. Then those who like that sort of thing would spend their time playing online to add those awards to their card. They would want to get stuff on the cards they could show off and other players see. Maybe levels of awards for weapons expertise, vehicle skills, flags, cores, nodes, etc. Special ranking and awards, maybe other stuff like just for playing so many hours as well. That way anyone of any skill could have a real nice looking player card to show off. Let the grinders grind if it means playing online to do it.
