With the manta and viper, it's important to keep moving.
This might seem obvious, but it's taken me a long time to appreciate it in practice.
If you try to run over a guy and miss him, don't try to back up or stop and turn around for another try. He can jump faster than you can turn that thing. And you're just making yourself into a big sitting target. Never stop for another shot. Keep going forward at full speed. Circle around, preferably behind something (like a big rock for example), and come up on him again (from behind if you can).
Well actually that's mainly true for the viper. The manta is more manuverable and you can often get away with just chasing a guy around a bit. But you may also take damage you would have avoided otherwise, and if he manages to get off an AVRiL shot or that fabled Impact Hammer manuver, well.
Similarly, be careful about manuvering in tight places. Avoid getting hung up on pieces of scenery. You can be effective in those spots, but know how to move through them quickly without getting stuck.
Don't waste a lot of time trying to shoot down other fast flying vehicles. Take a few shots if you can get them without stopping, and go after more important targets.
Well I guess actually the exception there is, if the other manta or viper is trying to harass a node or heavy vehicle on your team, you can try to dogfight him, to distract him away from what he should actually be doing. Then again you could also jump out and try to AVRiL him.
If you see a scorpion, just concentrate on getting the heck out of range.
By more important targets I mean, say, nodes or heavy vehicles for example. Fire on them continously from a safe distance, bouncing around or circling laterally as much as possible, and using available cover to protect from those horrible AVRiLs.
On the subject of AVRiLs, always listen closely for the telltale beeping of a AVRiL lock. You will often have very little time in which to decide whether to bail, so it's good to have this down to a reflex. When you're aiming to run down a guy from some distance, without much cover, do consider it aiming and move as fast as you can. If you get an AVRiL lock in the last second or two before impact, you may be able to bail while sending your abandoned vehicle forward to crush him before he can steal it from you. If he isn't crushed it would be good for you to have AVRiL out and ready.
The viper also has a suicide attack, which is worth practicing, though I've had better luck with the scorpion's suicide attack up to this point.
Just another point about the Raptor. It's reversal speed is rather slow. So sometimes if you're on foot and it's heading towards you, just dodge around a bit to avoid the initial projectiles it sends towards you. Then rush towards it with a stinger. It works quite well judging from the few times I've tried it.
I'm gonna need you to explain this one in a bit more detail
1) What I heard is that the suicide attack of the scorpion can take out a damaged Goliath. Aim for the Goliath, press space and leave. Buummm !!
Some more tips:
2) Or a tipp against all flying vehicles: The raptors second can lock them and ..... Buummmm (again) !!!! I love it :-)
3) Another thing about the raptor: the primary fire gets weaker with increasing distance. Circling around a Goliath or node from close distance, it takes five seconds for each of them. you do the same from some distance: double time. From longer distance: triple time. From very long distance: No effect at all. They really programmed strange stuff in this game, and we have to find it out :-)
Okay, letz continue. Post, post, post ... Post ALL your tricks here. Thats gonna be a very good thread !
