I've recently been trying to find a good mod to work on; is there anywhere on this board, or on other boards with a large community, where you can post a few sample pieces of work, and see if any mod teams contact you?

I would keep an eye out at BeyondUnreal http://www.beyondunreal.com/ . We always post help wanted news for mods.
ModDB is an excellent resource http://www.moddb.com/mods?filter=t&k...e=169&type=def if you don't mind doing a little searching for those in need of help.
And then there's ModCenter http://www.modcenter.com/sf/sfmain/do/home if you can figure out how to find anything on that site.Comment
