This tourney looks more and more like a good idea (at least when the top 4 play each other
edit hehe) these smaller clan sized 5v5/4v4 game demos really show up who can get the business done ... still-players/teams only get better thru being owned and it's all good fun.

UPDATE: First post updated please check the purple text for important match details. Thank you for everyone that has participated so far in the Multiplay Warfare 2008 event and I hope to see some new faces representing their countries as well

UPDATE: The second round of group matches have been played and FIN, GER, UK know they are through to the semi-finals but the last spot is still up for grabs between POL and ITA. As for the other teams they will continue to battle for their country to see how high they will end up in the ranks. Stay tuned for an update on matches and dates

To me, a good community is composed by PLAYERS, it means, guys who like the game, play it with and for fun, trying to play fair, with good sportmanship and not lame behaviour.
I can really say that with Ut2004 and our good old ONS, the european ONS community was a top one: we had the Titan Onslaught T32 community with their awesome 32 players public servers, and a lot a skilled (or not) clans with nice players like FAT, EZO, ne, Ci, SD, ST2... and lot of others without clans (skilled or not) who played the only and good way to play: friendly with respect and sportmanship. I remember the "fueg's and ert's server" which gave us so many great games, FG servers too, and others one... ah the good old time
The fact is that, with the arrival of UT3 and its warfare, our ONS community was splitted and lot of players didn't made the jump to UT3, the a new community born, with the impulsion of D2F who created the justWARFARE.com site dedicated to WAR (and VCTF), and especially in WAR pickups. Then lot of skilled players and others less skilled started to play 5v5 pickups, again and again, and this majority of players simply denigrate publics games, which is IMO really not the behaviour than a true community should have.
Near that, Clanbase ladder was dying, clans activity stopped very quickly... Yes, i think, nearly all the WAR clans are guilty of murdered WAR ladder, which reflects their implication and their envy of playing... just SLT, mi5, bU and ST2, tried to keep the flame but we failed. Clanbase WAR community was not a good one too to my eyes, seeing how all those skilled clans could rape us, ST2, the last of the ladder, with a bad sportmanship, using all maners to win easily: demmers, shape charge, base raping with mines or at spawn points... victory, vicory, victory at all cost. So tell me where is the game spirit? I have the answer, it's somewhere else, but not here.
And the few pickups i played, had similar behaviour, with not a lot of teamplay, and very selfish... this is one the reasons i dont play pickups, and TBH, i totally prefer a good 12v12 or 16v16 warfare, like in ONS: 8v8 and 16v16 FTW, and more i will always prefer play pubs with "noobs" but with good behaviour and a bit teamplay than a "skilled" 5v5 with not really teamplay and not sportmanship. Moreover WAR maps are not made to be played in 5v5 IMO...
To finnish, UT3 community on pubs, which are IMO the "true" players, who play for fun, is splited by guys with good and bad spormanship, but so much people dont care about balancing teams and then made sometimes the pubs be very desapointing games... Oh i forgot, it is so difficult to say in public chat: "someone wants to swap with me?" and then request swap team....
Sure i have in overall a bad opinion of the eurpean WAR community (that's why SQkippy_Doe your "good community" for you, is not a good one for me), but in it, you will be able to find fortunately, guys who want to play clean and fair games (in clans, pickup and public games) and then WAR is awesome, and play a great WAR public 32 players well balanced is very enjoyable! Thanks to them Heh pickups guys, it happens to have awesome games in pubs, you know?
To comeback to the Warfare 2oo8, idea came from Armageddon and bU teams i think, so thanks to them for realizing this competetion, I just hope there will be a next edition in the future, and maybe with more players per teams (my personnal point of view is that a "true" warfare, is done with a minimum of 8 players per team, and the top one are 12v12 or 16v16 games to have great action and fun).Comment
