    New2Unreal: Looking4 Strats&Tacts Guides pls

Hi, Im new to Unreal. Finaly got a top spec PC after many years (missed out on whole UT era) and picked up UT3 after seeing some vids of all the awsome teamplay, vehicle etc possibilities. I've noticed that because UT3 is part of a longer lineage (UT2004 specificaly), its difficult to find good guides so I don't mind reading about earlier games if the info is relevant to UT3. I'm after some good basic guides. I'm totaly new to things like shock combos and all the other Unreal specific stuff (come from a TFC background) and some specific stuff too, inc:

*Warfare mode, (watched shoutcast coverage of the UEA vs EU warfare, awsome teamwork strats) general and map specific strats.

*The Paladin, this is deffo my fave vehicle, very interesting. Any info in its uses - strats.

*Replays (esp for Warfare clan matches). I'm a Supreme Commander player, a community heavily based around replays. I can't seem to find replay files for this game. Is there even a built-in replayer?

    Any help appreciated. Thanks, Crayfish.

yes, but it is server side

the people at justwarfare should have some replays of pickups, but can't find it now

omg theres another supcom player out there? hail good sir!
shock combo dates back to the original unreal where it was called the asmd, some smart guy decided to make the alt-fire detonate when you hit it with the primary fire... the hell he started XD now its a trademark move!

even with replays you still need the in game experience and familiarity with the controls. you need to actually practice doing things like the shock combo, especially while moving. if you sit still in ut3, your a target.

if you are new, go through the single player, then do some botmatches and you will learn the game.

practice evasion. in dm avoiding a shot is more effective than landing one.

for warfare it is all dependent on the team and the map, if you cant rely on your teammates then you will most likely lose.

learn the basis of the maps in single player (the campaign hits them all i think?) then you can spectate or just watch other players to learn extra tricks.

practice practice practice, but most important is be a good sport.

            Warfare guides for beginners

Here are 2 prior threads I posted as Warfare guides for beginners.

Warfare Etiquette for Beginners (Warfare Guide for Beginners)

            http://forums.epicgames.com/showthread.php?t=610930

and this 2nd one, of which much is applicable to all Warfare matches

            A beginners guide to WAR-TankCrossing

            http://forums.epicgames.com/showthread.php?t=613140

Lots of good info in those threads, many top players posted informative replies in both these threads. There are also links to other threads covering warfare and vehicle use.

Basically u can learn so much about UT3 by just spectating whatever gametype u like. Spectate the good players on the teams and see what they do, see how they move. Try to figure out why they do what they do and when they do it. Also if you play warfare, turn off zoomed minimap, and change your orders to Specail Ops in the orders menu screen. Also for warfare never listen to the crazy lady telling u things, cause alot of times she will tell u the wrong stuff. Like in downtown your core is getting attacked, and she is saying attack the tank node, yeah that could help me but your prime is more important at the moment.

Ask questions to, most players are more than willing to help you out with anything u may want to know. If your a warfare players stop in BGE's warfare server I'm usually there at night and sometimes during the day, i can show u anything u would want to know. You can also ad me as a friend in game, I'll help u with anything u may want to know, I'm a vctf/warfare mostly player but play all game types.

I am by no means a top player but have picked up alot of things from playing since december and don't mind sharing what I know.
