    Blurry distance

Well I am happy with all my settings except 1. The further away something is form me, the blurrier they get. The affect is pretty awfull. I have toyed witha lot of settings to get rid of this.. but none work. How can I axe the blur out of my game?

    try post-processing > muted.

Not sure though. Get a 2nd opinion.

Muting post-processing will just affect bloom intensity AFAIK. You'll have to disable depth of field for the blur to go away.

Edit UTEngine.ini and switch it off here:

      [SystemSettings]
      DepthOfField=False

Myself I rather like it though

Thank you. I will try it now

I was beginning to get the impression that Epic needs someone who does not wear glassess on their team, J/K

Ok It is fixed thank you very much. Maybe it is just my system but the blur was so bad it was like I was both farsighted and nearsighted at the same time. Now I a,m back in the game
Headshot/double kill/rampage... woot yeah I tested it on face and it is woonderfull now bwahahahaha.

If you want to remove the blurry/foggy distance and keep that UT3 color overlay look then you could try this...

          *removed sorry*

This will freak you out at first because I was shocked at how much clearer it was. It makes it seem like you just got lasik eye surgery. Do note that this will remove ALL fog, lights, and most water effects, but it will retain the color overlay effect. It will also make textures in dark/black areas look 16bit...but its not that noticable. This will also give you a massive performance boost because those effects do not have to be rendered.

heres some pics (sorry forgot to put AA on when I took these, but you get the idea) Even from the thumbnails, you can easily see how much clearer this is.

*on second thought if you really want to know, PM me and I will tell you. I dont want to be the one primarily to blame when everyone will start doing this config tweak because it might be considered a cheat?
This tweak could possibly increase the UT3 population because of the massive performance increase on older systems/graphics cards, but then again, some people might think its cheating because you can see all the way across the map without fog or blur.
So its like a double edged sword?

Yep, I noticed same when I tryed to get better fps. That is definedly cheating in certain maps, and it should be fixed.

I have also only got DOF disabled, and it works wonders for the overall look (imo, takes it to a UT2k4 style where you can actually see in the distance).

I have no problem with removing fog myself and don't consider it a cheat, as long as it doesn't remove the sandstorm in Sandstorm for example

Some settings give me eye strain and fatigue. I don't give a rat about what it is considered, they just have to go. My other option is sell the game on eBay.

I've been playing offline, or with ping 200+. Offline I can play with whatever settings I want, even godmode. Online the advantage that the tweaks can give, can't compensate for lag. And btw you can always set the sliders to 1/1
