I would definitely not recommend the GS. Almost definitely the 9600.

    Brand really doesn't matter.

Oh lawd at a GS beating a GTX, need a more trust-worthy tech website that doesn't have errors in it's results, drivers or not. It isn't possible.

It only beated the gtx in the 1024x768 res benchmark, none of the higher ones, I dunno, but it seems like its a possibility that it actually won over the gtx at such a low res.

Yes, more recent drivers on a benchmark that I hand-picked. Because it happens to more less match my current settings on the game I currently play
the site is credible because they say that they use different drivers, they are not fooling people.

And look at this link where a guy benchmarks UT3 with the same card but different forceware drivers. From 52.33 to 69.52 fps
            http://www.alcomsplace.com/ut3_bench...vers.htm#table

Installed the Evga 8800gs. It oc's well and runs cool but the fan must run a bit faster.

              Stock: 550/1375/800
              Max stable oc: 690/1728/1025

Before I was playing at 1024x768 4/4 w/avg 60fps but could come down to 35
Now it's 1280x960 5/5 90fps and the lowest I've seen is ~55 on Serenity and with a lot of players.

Not that I didn't go for a budget card again , but you guys were right, the 8600gt is quite bad for games if one wants to play at nice high settings.

              Thx for all the tips
