Crucial Info for those who do Video ( you tube info )

Nukedeath is creating a site for all of us enthusiastic video makers.

How to watch You Tube Videos in High Resolution!

NOTE: THIS ONLY WORKS IF YOUR UPLOADED VIDEO IS HIGHER RES THEN 320X240!
all my gaming vids are 720x480 so this works really well for me.

*** its worth mentioning all my vids at this point ARE NOT FRAPS VIDEOS.
they are Divx avi's edited in Premiere Elements, and rendered to WMV format,
    then uploaded to You Tube.

I found this info this morning regarding how to watch higher quality vids on you tube.

The gist of it is this:
add text at the end of the video url and it uses a higher quality render.
albeit at potentially slower download rate,.
but if your connection is fast, you wont have any problems.

add this text at the end of the You Tube video url: &fmt=6

    [shot]http://mettle-works.diinoweb.com/files/My%20Photo%20Album/ifitworks.png[/shot]

The text in the red box indicates you are watching in HQ mode.

this tells You Tube's server to play the high quality render version.
i notice a big improvement in my videos.

watch: the difference is night and day! an amazing improvement.

"normal resolution" a bit pixelated and blurry
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwcFkodj-mI

"high quality flv resolution" add &fmt=6 to the end of the url
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwcFkodj-mI&fmt=6 much clearer, much crisper

pay close attention to my Pipe Dreams bumper at the beginning.
in "normal res" its pixelated and the footage is blurry most of the time.
in high res, it looks much crisper, cleaner.

you can tell You Tube to play vids at HQ res by default
(youll need to be a You Tube member for this setting)
    Video Playback Quality
You can choose the playback quality of the videos you watch; the default is to let YouTube choose.
If you're always on either a slow or fast connection, you may want to choose the setting which corresponds to your usual speed

    High Quality on Youtube

    Make Video Tutorials Easily

also might be useful to those who upload vids to you tube like myself.
what we are after is high quality at precise config settings.

and im guilty of breaking a few of those "rules" my vids are at 720x480
usually at 5000 bit rate. and converted from Divx AVI to WMV (because i always edit, and add title grafix, and my Pipe Dreams bumper)
im still tweaking my methods, and the other nite i played with Fraps for the first time in years.
    the Fraps vids are awesome.
as soon as i get the sound (music) to mix right youll see a big improvement in my vids.
same method- play music while ingame then use the whole song as the video if the footage looks good enough.

i make alot of vids that will never be seen, because, while theres action,
i like my vids to have a lil extra something.
not just spam all over the place.
it has to jel...the music and the action must compliment each other.
    thats how i think anyway....

i just found these pages, and havent read all of it fully, but here it is,
for anyone who likes info like i do.
bookmark those links, some charts there are good reference material.

its all about sharing and learning.

now get out there and make some video!

On a related note, it'd be good if people who choose to put music in their vids could stop using heavy/death/(I think I'm unique) metal "music." At least go with something a little more soothing to the ears (yes I know that's subjective but if you don't nitpick you'll get what I mean).

i am sorry. ( but im not, really) let me explain.

        i respect your opinion sir.

what youre asking of me, is akin to asking George Lucas to stop using so many robots,
and starships in his movies. lol.

its like asking Zakk Wylde to quit using Pinch Harmonics.

what you see in my work is my "trademark". its how i do things.
im not gonna change it. sorry.

        however,
my vids are what they are, and its a tribute to rock n roll, and gaming.
the music is played as i play the game.
        its how i play.

the music isnt added after! its all happening in real time.
what you see in my videos is whats happening as i am recording, and playing.

when i click STOP on the recorder the video is basically finished.
all i have to do is trim the in and out points,
add my production bumper at the front, and a title graphic.

        and wammo instant UT3 video.

sorry youre not a metal head.
i can relate to hating sucky music in gaming vids.
        i hate it too.
        i cant please everyone.

        its all good.
for those about to rock, i salute you ! \\nn// .....\\nn//

i checked that 1st link by the way...it works for me.

Just to clarify, my post wasn't a jibe at you. I had not viewed any of your vids so I was not aware of your musical taste. My message was directed to everyone, not just you.

                  ahh ok m3fs

H3i53nb3rg - do me a favor: watch my videos. then comment. thank you, drive thru!

its all good man! what i try to convey in my vids is the Warfare gametype,
and usually ill have a whole game.
so those who never play Warfare can kinda get a feel what its like.

                  have fun!

edit : i have changed the video links at my Multiply blog to reflect the HQ setting.
and posted "how to" instructions in each of my gaming vid's comments at you tube.

Second link doesn't look that great tbh. Looks like Youtube quality to me.

its better. ive watched it like 6 times, back n forth comapring the 2...its way better.
i wouldnt spend the time to post all this information if it wasnt.

i dont know what your monitor setting/ graphic settings internet settings etc.
your vision ...are you 20/20 vision?
some of you may in fact see no improvement.
                            but i dont see how.

i mean, i see it. its night n day to me.
                            huge difference.
and i mean fine details like pixelation in my bumper and the overall video .

normal res, its very blurry, and look in distance shots- high res has better clarity in depth.
and you can see farther distance in the video with more clarity.

and were talking HQ, not HD here.
