Making custom map servers popular

The other night I joined an empty custom map server and left my player in there for a while and after about 10 minutes there was 5 of us playing

I guess what im asking is if you like custom maps and you see the servers empty stick around for 5 mins before leaving. I used to do this in UT2004 and I always got a game on in the end.

For those that don't know you can press alt-enter and get back to windows, so whilst sitting in a server you can browse the forums.

Please help the custom map servers, thanks!

custom servers used to be fun.. with the compression ratio on maps now being ****, a lot of people won't wait around for the redirect, especially if it's slow..

as another mapper mentioned, the community is not supporting the mod/mapping community in this incarnation of UT the same as it has with other releases in the past.

My experience is that a server with custom map works very good but only if they have a good redirection server that is fast! Especially if they have no redirection at all, simply nobody ever joins.
