I have the nforce 680i SLI and it suits my needs fine, it supports up to quad core and PC9600 memory it costed me 200 euro but as Harmatia said you want it to last the longest.
Haven't seen the 790 one yet but I bet it's even better

With mobos, I tend to want the latest and greatest at time of purchase, since its the thing you'll be trying to make last the longest.

The new nforce 790 looks to be a real champ...

    Motherboards for Core2Quad

I am about to pull the trigger on the purchase of a C2Q Q6600 and was wondering what motherboard those of you sporting that processor would recommend? I have seen a particular Gigabyte mobo referenced before, and they have excellent reviews on Newegg, but I can't remember which board.

Wants: SLi (not gonna run SLi mode, but will have duel PCIe 8800GT's for the mobo, one at 512 MB, and the other at 256 MB). That's about my only "has to have" option.

I don't need onboard sound as I have an Audigy card already, but almost all motherboards have it. Would be nice to have built-in WiFi, but not necessary or mandatory.

    Opinions?
Working...
