    Hellbender?

How can I enter the Hellbender & fire the weapons without anyone else being in the vehicle?

If I'm the first in, I can only drive it & bep the f@$cking horn but I've played online & seen other players jump straight in & start shooting.

Uh are you sure you're not playing UT2004? In UT3, pressing fire allows you to fire skymines...

Yeah that sounds like 2004, in which the driver can only toot the horn (wtf who thought that was a good idea?). In UT3 just left click and it will fire the skymines. If however you are playing 2004 you can fire the skymines by hopping from seat to seat. Just use 1 through 3 the select your seat.

not sure what you're talking about. but try when inside hellbender, mouse wheel or enfoncer boutton to switch to tourret. you can switch back to driver seat using impact hammer boutton or mousewheel again.

          Sorry, it's UT2004

When driving the Hellbender, scrolling the mousewheel only changes my viewing distance to the vehicle itself?

Still no clearer, what's the Impact Button & Enforcer Button?

Sorry for the confusion, those were all UT3 answers. To answer your question regarding the Hellbender from 2004: The Hellbender has three seats, the driver, the passenger seat gunner and the rear gunner. You can press a number just like selecting a weapon to change seats in any multi-seat vehicle. Press 1 for driver seat, press 2 for side seat skymine gunner and press 3 for the rear gunner seat. Have fun! And buy UT3.

The idea is to enforce that the vehicle requires teamwork by requiring at least two people for it to be effective (much like the Hog in Halo.) Unfortunately, people aren't very smart and would drive off alone anyway. With the three seats it could also be used as a troop-transport.

I think it wasn't a good idea personally, and I am very glad they switched it to 2 seats in UT3. The bender from 04, just like UT3, is most effective with just one person. The rear seat gunner is only truly useful when the vehicle is not moving and sitting in a fine camping position. Example: Torlan. The Hellbender rear gun was great when placed on a hill for taking out every potential oppenent, excluding maybe the tank. The skymine seat was most effective, again, when placed in the appropriate position. Example: Torlan. Skymines fired down the narrow passage near the center node were devastating. 2nd example: Primeval. The bender doesn't last a second out in the open and must be placed in certain locations to be protected from fire and still rain down destruction on the center node. In all of these examples the bender is best when stationary. A driver is unnecessary and the other gunner would be more effective standing outside the bender with an AVRIL. So what about a moving Hellbender with the skymine turret disintegrating infantry? Yes, two people are required for that. But good luck finding both a skilled driver and a skilled gunner and managing to coordinate your efforts into something effective.

So yes, I was one who would drive off by myself in the Hellbender. Because I'd rather be effective than be a team player when my team mates will likely drive me to my death.

Well, you're assuming that your team-mates can't play, which isn't really fair to the example. You should consider how well it might do with an extra player or two who know it as well as you do. Being able to suppress your target with the twin beams and defend against close-range attacks with the skymines and move to cover should the need arise, without needing to switch seats would certainly be better than having to chose one of the three, wouldn't it?

Yes it would. Having both gun turrets manned by skilled players is excellent. Both the UT3 and 2004 Hellbenders share this trait. However, I maintain that the 2 man Hellbender is far superior to the 3 man. It still encourages team play because it has two seats.

Oh I'm not arguing which is better. I've no concern about that matter. Just that, properly manned, the 3-seat 'bender design has a purpose.

Yep. But something needs to be done to make the gunner seat more worthwhile. Some sort of stabilization, and slightly better downward arc would be a place to start. Or maybe jsut a thicker beam. Hard to have pinpoint accuracy when you've no idea how your going to be moving.

Why is that bad? I think that it was better in UT2k4 then now. Hellbender used to be team vehicle. Now it powerful peace of $h17. It would be best and more useful that they bring it back as it was.

The second turret could also use some sort of indication, either in sound or visual form, of when it's dealing the damage of a fully charged shot or just giving your target a gentle poke. For some reason it's also the only case where the crosshairs don't flash red to indicate that you've scored a hit, which is annoying. It just seems fairly unpolished all round.

I agree. I would prefer it to have at least a little knockback as well.
