Yes, I'll agree. UT has the best implementation of A.I. opponents in a multiplayer game that I've ever seen. They're great for filling out the ranks in online matches when you have an odd amount of players, too. Thanks, Epic.

@ Topic: I remember playing against bots in UT99 (when I was like 12 :x) back in the day, can't say I even tried the UT3 bots so far, but I just assume they do their job as always. :P

There is no doubt that the bots are fun but to be honest I find that bots are boring and quit predictable wither in normal mode or on god like mode, they are stupid when it comes to movement in maps.
Bots will only follow the bot paths set by the map maker they will not change or vary from these paths in anyway they will not make any adhesive moves in anyway so they are very predictable and I rarely play them because of this.

-DMYes and it is very easy to get the bots to behave better by adding more bot paths in the level and tweaking these paths to make the bots less predictable. Its a mapper thingy and it depends on how much time you want to spend doing it! If you give a bot one path to take they have no choice but give them several and they will weave and wind depending on the situation there in and you will not know where exactly they will head, makes gameplay against them way more fun.

I don't think we need to debate CoD vs UT do we? We all know UT is a dozens times better, but it's just addicting game elements that win the battle these days over quality. It's on purpose by game developers.
This will change when more people realize addicting elements just create a fake feeling of having fun. But that will take a few years, if not, a decade.
Games are relatively new, people haven't had a chance to develop a taste in games properly enough, yet.

I agree with you Taboen. UT3 is a much better game than camper of duty 4. The former is fast paced and the team based game modes are accessible to people of all skill levels. The same can't be said for the latter.
(Yes, I do have both games so I'm not just forming an opinion based on hearsay.)

You come in here happily stating that but I'd like to know your reasons.
You can't just state stuff like that without supporting it with reasons.
I've given you my opinion+properly supported it with reasons, now it's your turn.
but i'll give some of my reasons: I kinda like the choice of weapons you have in COD4...and more importantly, I like the graphics better...I wish to see soon urban sunny maps soon. I liked very much Blackhawk on UT2004. It's possible given Frontlines is based on UE3. Right now, the map in UT3 are a bit too grungy and dark to my taste.
But you are right, I am a sucker for the fast paced action UT. There's nothing like a good MASSACRE award blasting through the speakers
I shouldn't have said that anyway, because just the fact that you can play bots make it a better game for me. It saves from all the frustration of the online experience. When I launch UT3, I know I will have some fun..that's what count.

-the fact if I have a bad connection I can't play well
-the time spent looking for good servers (due to the crappy server browser of COD4)
-the fact that sometimes I'm on servers where people are just too good for me and all I do is dying/respawn repeat...this is not just fun, and sometimes it's just what I want.
-the fact that randomly someone decide to call me a cheater, gay or noob.
-the lack of humble good players
-the huge tendency to camp (much less present in UT online in my exp.), it conflicts with the way I play and gets on my nerve.
-the fact the notion of competition seems to be above the one of fun
-the fact that in my experience the more fun I have is when I play with people of my average level, and that it rarely happens online...
The latest is important. When I proposed on community forums the idea of balanced server, by for exemple filtering on the kill/death ratio, I just got flamed, and I was told to go back play Pong. I know it's not the most elaborate idea, but it was a starting point to discussion...
EDIT: I forgot...when in 2 years the new super mega FPS from X or Y will be out...few people will still play COD4
so I will have even more troubles enjoying my game...while I still play UT2004 on a regular basis....

Anyway the bots are great but, unavoidably predictable. They are also way to accurate with the mini and enforcers.
