I play with MTL's tweaked settings for maximum clarity @ 1280x960 @ 100Hz/100 FPS constant (may be some fps drops on some warfare maps with instensive stuff going on screen)

The logic of some on here seems to be that you need a 250Hz monitor to appreciate 250fps, was it ever such with crt? The ms response time of the mouse plays into things and the result can be a play feeling twice as responsive and smoother.

5-50fps, 800x600, low settings on either of my setups but that is more down to the cards really, ho hum

Lol i'd like to see some proof of this 300fps+, yeah i can get 300fps too...if i turn vsync off...go on the tinest may...look at the floor in a pitch black area...with the map empty lol ¬¬. and yea on max.

          Q6600-G92 512 700/1025-2 gig ballistix

But think of the tearing! ><!!

I enabled VSYNC, dont need more than 60 because:

          -Tearing
-Never drops below 60, even during spam fests on massive fulyl packed 32player servers

Besides its not not about how high your fps is, its how low, if you have a high minimun then thats much better than having a high high and a low minimun, I beleive this has been discuseed numerous times. If i turn vsync off i get around 200fps too. But tearing becomes quite bad at times. Im just glad that i have never ever lagged, only lag i get is server side, dam servers cant keep up with my 1337 speed :P heh

I get no tearing. Maybe its your lcd and its ms delay looking like tearing, i get none on a crt.

Yep, I have never run with vsync on, ever in UT, UT2k3, UT2k4, or UT3.

In UT3, I consistently run 250-400 fps, no matter what map or however many peeps are playing.

                Tear's, I've never seen one.

Still using a CRT. Have never run into a LCD yet that could keep up in a fast paced FPS.

then have a look at a LCD monitor with 2ms response time

My max is in the 300's fps, average is 250 fps and low is 130 fps.
Is there anyone still stuck with 60 fps?
                    That is an easy fix.
Mine is about the same. I jump into the 4 and 500's on some maps in some area's and if I stare at a wall I can sometimes see 700.

But, playable, its between 100 and 400 on every map. The player count doens't matter as well, as that doesn't seem to affect my fps.

                    my system is:

                    8800gt 512
                    q6600 quad
                    2g corsair xms
                    audigy 2zs

I play on max low settings, and 800x600 with 90fov.

I own an LCD with 2ms response. I don't use it for gaming.

There is no LCD built yet that can equal the performance of a CRT.

I get 90fps minimum to 300fps max at 1280x960 world detail 1 (Cant stand the GOW look on anything higher) - texture detail 5. anything below 90fps bothers me, you can argue all day about refresh rates and monitors but is always gonna come down to personal preference and what a person's eyes can detect.

100mhz override refresh rate via DXDIAG Run Command
FE1250+ 22" NEC Black CRT + Backup 22" Sony Trinitron CRT (in my closet for when NEC monitor dies) [no lcd will ever replace my CRT]
                        Q6600 @ 3.2Ghz
                        2GB OCZ DDR2 @ 900 4-4-4-15
                        8800GT @ 670/1674/1900

After reading the fellow about the mouse response time I won't knock it again until I try it. However I feel compelled to point out that you have a refresh rate of 100hz, therefore the preference you have for 90fps minumum is perfectly logical. The question is, can you tell the difference between 100 fps and 150(this number is arbitrary).

About world detail on 1 I have to agree. I have mine on 1 and textures on 5 as well. You may already know, but there are a couple specific effects you should turn back on in the UTEngine.ini file. Distortion allows you to see the Nightshade when it's invisible and dynamic lights allows you to see the glow from shock cores, making shock combos easier.

This brings up a very good point. Not all LCD monitors are very good at all for games. In fact, most are not very good at all. Some are just plain cheap and look like **** no matter what card you have and what settings you use. If you want a good LCD monitor, you really need to do some research before you buy. You cannot trust the guy down at Best Buy to give you good advice on what to buy.

I will hold on to my Sony G520 Trinitrons until they die. They may weigh 80 lbs and dissipate almost 100 watts of heat, but they look good doing it.
