haslo repliedDon't be mean olldkawman1, he's obviously aware that he's uninformed and looking for information to fix that, and what better place is there than a forum full of hardware freaks?
The wishlist does look really good, apart from the processor where you really should go with a QuadCore - I used to buy only AMD for years, but these days Intel is so much better you really forfeit a great bit of potential performance if you do.

PATSCRU repliedI agree with all the peeps on this thread saying you should go with intel. I was with AMD during the single core athlon days, but the core2duo's are without competition. The only reason to go with a 790FX is if you are planning to use 3 or more ATI cards in a crossfireX configuration, otherwise i'd definately go for an x38, x48, or p35 board from Asus and an intel q6600 or even a dual core e8400 or an older e6600. They are WAY more overclockable than the current AMD's...i got my 2.4 GHz e6600 to 3.4 GHz on air quite easily, a great investment. Research the intels, you won't regret em.
i know you don't want to hear this after you ordered your stuff, but newegg's got great return policies. If you do decide to stick with your AMD board and chip, definately go with an ati hd3870 or 3870x2, it's a much better gfx card choice for the amd chipset.

AnubanUT2 repliedDude I love your setup ... I would go intel but that is me ... good price to for such a powerful system. Its always best to get a powerful single CPU and then later upgrade to another and do SLI ... heck with the GTX you could eventually do Tri-SLI ... can't do that with the GT and GTS cards. I know I wouldn't change things if you can afford it go for it and don't let people make you think the GTX is a bad card to get. Its the best around other than Ultras. If I could I would have two GTX's in SLI ... but I am waiting for something of equal or better performance stock that uses the G92 tech which is why I am waiting for the 9800s to come out to upgrade my GPUs.

RoadKillGrill repliedId go with a 8800 GT and an intel quad, should equal out to the same price but better performance, the intel entry quad kills the phenoms on every bench i seen.
Your current loadout should run UT3 without a hitch tho.

Harmatia repliedOriginally posted by DeathmooN View PostI highly suggest getting 2 8800 GTs and SLIing them for better performance than the one GTX, for almost the exactly same price.
And honestly dude, I've always loved AMD, but the phenoms are TERRIBLE. Make the switch to Intel, you won't regret it. Q6600 > easily that phenom.
