Thts awesome mate because i bought it on monday and im only 85000 so ur luky! Im assumin more thn a hundred thousand has gt the game for ps3 unless i misread the ranking nd im actually 8000 odd! I think the ranking system works mostly by kill:death ratio so the more ppl uve killed compared to dying the higher the ranking plus ull prob rank more if u have lots of speciall rewards like multi kill tht sort of stuff! plus you wouldnt know how to use the headsets on ps3 would you? it says right d-pad in manual but i cant gt it to work and it seems as if the whole game is without people with headsets!

There must be at least 20 threads on stats and rankings already. Do a search, I'm sure anything you want to know has been covered already.

There's at least 187,159 id's in the ranking system. Although how many are active I dunno, here's number 187,159

            Hey z000z!
This is how the ranking works: (can't believe I'm posting this again Leo )

Your rank is based on your Elo rating. You can look up Elo in Wikipedia for a detailed explanation on how it works, but here's the short version. If you have a low (bad) Elo rating and you kill someone with a high (good) Elo rating, then you will improve substantially and his Elo will worsen. But if the high Elo rating guy kills the low Elo rating guy then neither player will see much if any difference. That's because a good player killing a bad player means little, and a bad player killing a good player is noteworthy.

Why does my rank go up and down so much?
Let's say for arguments sake that a person ranked #100 has an Elo of 2200. A person ranked #3000 has an Elo of 2000. If #3000 plays really well (or get lucky kills on high ranking people) then let's say his Elo increases to 2050. Since there's 3000 people between 2000 and 2200, the ranking can improve many more places than just the 50 Elo points. That's how small changes in Elo can have a large impact on your ranking.

Why does my rank fall when I don't play?
That's because your Elo rating is static if you're not active, and other people are playing and passing you up.

I think the ranking system is stupid!
Maybe it is. It's just for fun. Try not to let it impact your play style.

To wrap it up in a nutshell, kill:death ratio matters not. It's who you kill and not how many. Killing sprees, multi-kills, rewards etc. have no impact on your rating. However I believe that team based objectives (destroying core, returned flag etc.) does improve your Elo rating.

yeah couldn't agree more, and as such i need to start playing warfare if i want my rating to go up, DM only makes it very hard to up your rating as it can be a bit mental.

Agreed, play Warfare if you want your rank to go up. I've even been ranked 2# (based on UT3's rating system) for a while playing with the top ranked players on UMG server but that was some time ago and it got boring playing with the same guys and laggy server all the time (170 ping for me as I'm from europe and that server is in U.S.) so I don't care about the ranking anymore, I play for fun not for some stupid ranking system, I can tell if I do great or not myself.

If you're interesting in upping the rank I recommend playing warfare and try to damage/build and lock nodes with orb or capture nodes and kill orb carriers and damage core as much as possible that ups your rank. Don't put too much weight on killing random players in warfare (killing vehicles with avril is fine though), that's just a waste of time.

Oddly enough a non-Warfare player holds the #1 position for what I believe is the first time. Elix1 appears to play CTF and or DM.
If you want to butt heads with some of the top ranked Warfare players I recommend you join in the UMG league server or the PHX server. That's where you'll usually find several top 50 players at any given time.

The top 10 at the moment are all DM guys, it's because the top Warfare people aren't playing all at the same time/server anymore, where the DM guys seem to be doing that now.

Ya I am currently ranked 313 in the leaderboards and my roomate (tiliwinkles) is 215 and I wish they would do something in a future patch where it will let you know other peoples ranks before the match begins!!! I work really hard to get up there and just to see it drop very fast!!! No offense to anyone posting here though lol...
