I suggest the ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 - Fastest Yet! and its runs a lot cooler then the 8800 gt
The ATI Radeon HD 3870 512 runs about 200 bucks and it just as fast as the 8800 gt.

i say the best pick is 8800 GT.

8600 GT sucks because they only perform well in sli, still less than the 8800GT yet 2 cost more than one GT.

8800GTS G92 isnt much of an improvement over the GT..

3870 GX2 is the best card out but im sure you dont want to spend 440 bones on a card.

if your looking for performance id go with the GT. if your looking for low prices, go for the 8800GS for about $160.

Being an ATI person I would wait and go with the GX92 when it comes out if you have the money for it. Other than that the G92 8800GTS will work just fine. Also if you want look at the 3870 X2 just a thought.

The GX2 is going to be another 7950 GX2 blow out, sure it may get some nice support in the beginning, but as soon as the 9 series gets released (possibly Q2 of '08) the driver support is going to go down the drain...since the card is a dual PCB (ATI's 3870 X2 is the same way, yet it uses two GPUs on a single PCB, yet still needs Crossfire to utilize both, which really doesn't fix the common flaw with cards like these) you'll get almost no performance gain if SLI isn't properly utlilized / optimized via drivers.

Search for a rebated GT on newegg if you want to conserve your budget, otherwise @ 260 dollars, the 8800 GTS still has a great Price/Performance ratio. (At a minimum get a 512 mb 3850, or 3870)

Man, I don't know ANYTHING about graphic cards. I aksed my dad what graphic card I have, and he told me how to find it, and my computer says it's a 'Radeon X1650 Se'. Can anyone tell me if that's good?

Ok, i am thinking of the 8800gt (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130318) and i am thinking of 2 things. 1. would i need something extra to keep it cool. and 2. i am pretty sure that the 8800gt is better then the 8800gts but thats just what this website says. They just keep getting better and cheaper. I am waiting for spring '09 to upgrade.

I have the asus 8800gt. Just download ntune and set the fanspeed of 60%(less noise and effective) and your graphics card won't run hotter than 70 degrees celsius on a very hot day with a small overclock. Just make sure you have a system fan that blows out the hot in air and you'll be fine. At default the fan runs at 29% and won't go up untill it goes over +- 90 degrees. I'll only reccomend cooling if you planning to go sli and major overclock.

All comes down on how much you have to spend and how long you willing to wait.
