Vid card question

On my new PC I just built I have the new 512 MB eVGA 8800 GTS.
Going to be building my son a new gaming PC before long.

Lets say I wanted to give him my card and I put in the new 8800 GT that just came out.

I am running the 169.28 beta drivers from 3D Guru or some site.
If I pull my card and put the new one in, will it work without using Driver Cleaner and taking all traces of the Nvidia drivers off my PC?

Or would it still be best to wipe the drivers first and reinstall them after XP Pro detects the new card?

I'm not sure if it would wipe the old drivers but just to avoid some unforeseeable and completely ridiculous complications I'd wipe the drivers anyway.

Definitely good advice. I had an 8800GT die in my system with the drivers still installed. Tried putting in an 8600GTS while RMA'ing the other card. The drivers did not work, and it was slight pain getting them out. On the other hand, my experience with uninstalling and reinstalling drivers when switching between 8600 & 8800 series cards has been problem free. Never had to use any driver cleaner.
