Initially I was disappointed with flak against Manta. Then I realized it was my aim. Takes about 3 direct hits and the Manta's destroyed. It just doesn't have the knockback of other weapons so you have to know how to stay inside the Manta's turning radius.

Mantas & Vipers already got plenty of competition from infantry. Stay close and you'll be able to evade them forever. Now, all you've gotta do is damage them faster than they damage you with the Manta/Viper weapon. Like:

    1) AVRiL their ***

    2) Impact hammer secondary (make sure it's revved up)

    3) Stinger or link gun secondary

    4) Even shock core works, only not like it used to

maybe in vctf, but not in tdm or ctf.... double dodging would kill these mods completely.

When I said "dodging" I wasn't referring to the UT term 'dodge' but like dodging in general.

However, I copied some moves but I had to double my mouse speed so I could do 180° turns.

True, Ive had lotsa kills like that. Theres alot more to surviving than just dodging. Its not failsafe at all

after a certain skill level youll be happy to see dodging ppl. Dodging makes you move predictable in a straight line through air without cover = a perfect duck to shoot down.

True dodge master rarely dodge, but then they do it, its totally on surprise and in unpredictable direction.

Usually a sniper shot solves that problem, but a spam weapon usually does good too. Just shoot into the direction they dodged with a quick reflex move. Cant miss. Our brains are preprogrammed by nature to hit such targets(i dont know why )

Constant dodging makes u live longer and trick the opponent. Its a matter of getting used to doing it all the time. I never move without dodging, even when being safe. U get to the point quicker. lol I still use the jump at the end of a dodge though it dosnt work in UT3, but 2K4.

My K/D ratio is 1.51 I might add.

And btw, a cpl of ours play a week will not make u improve
I play a cpl of hours a day - at least

Telling the future is what it's all about. It's a state of mind. If you tried playing chess and only thought one move ahead, you'd loose, and it's the same in UT. You absolutely do have to predict what your opponent is doing, and second guess him. It might be something as simple as going round a corner, then instead of carrying on, turning back on yourself - to a series of feints, and dodges.

I might throw a rocket over in that direction, to get you to dodge out of it's way over there, to clear the way for me to reach the manta that you just exited from because of the avril I had travelling in your direction, so I can run you over.....

So yes, probably your opponent was guessing that you'd be shooting there, and was dodging already.....

It helps if you could decrease the time something between each jump. The options are available in 2k4 input feature, but none anywhere in ut3, which is another annoyance.

    Nope, it wasn't me

Sorry, but the name I remember is e1n1. There were some other good ones as well but I had a blast trying to follow him and watch him really fly through the levels.
Unfortunately, I never got to empty my ammo because his aiming skill was top notch, too.

Glad to hear some people are feeling the same. My ratio is still over one but I remember how I really used to own in Q3, especially Instagib. Well, time moves on. I'll have to see if I can get some more time to practice...

And frankly I don't think my reflexes have ever been quite up to snuff. But that is the challenge, isn't it.

There are numerous small things a person can do, get a better mouse, adjust control settings, get a better mousepad. Some things a person could do are impossible of course, like lifting your wrist off the pad for quick movement, setting it down for precise aiming. Or is it the other way around? See what I mean? Impossible.

I guess I could say things like find the zen in continuous movement, transcend the unreality of the matrix, trust the force... ok I'm done now

Oh, and for online play, like the previous guy said, ping could well be a factor, especially if you don't have the best isp connection in the world. You should try to prefer servers with the lowest ping you can get.
    Yeah that was well put,
But still im surprised how some people can seem to hop out of the place you're about to shoot...

It seems almost like they can tell the future in a way but of course this is completely impossible,
maybe watch in on you're gun and see that your about to fire and for that split second they move out of the way but this is also very unlikely maybe it's just they have played so long they get the intuition and have a feeling they know where you're going to shoot which is actually possible.

I better get some training in,
