    UT3 @ 2600x1600

I just ordered the new 30" inch Dell with resolution 2600x1600.
It's for cs3 but i also enjoy ut since ut99. I will have it in two weeks because it cames from Ireland.
What card(s) are suitable for this monster?

nvidia 8800 Ultra if you want it to play with everything on high and maintain more than 60 fps.

well, no current card will have a walk in the park at that resolution, toms hardware speaks about it thou in the latest 3870 X2 review

these cards can pull it off acceptably, but the nvidia 9 series will likely do better or the same while the 8xxx series prices get lower. if the mid-end 9xxx card performs well it will be a great option, i guess.

bottom line: u'll need a true monster card

my rig would run it as a walk in the park check sig

if you wait till march the 9800gtx will be out and it should run it well.

          Thanks.
That was very enlightening. Maybe i will need two of the ultra, maybe not. I will start with one and i'll see...
Well, if a can afford the Dell then i must also afford the cost of the cards as well.
I won't need AA because i am still with xp.

Who needs AA? On a 30" monitor you're not going be looking for jaggies anyway.

did you honestly just compare a 2 year old card to a card that is brand new? a single gpu to twin gpus? ouch. the 3870x2 needs to be compared to the 9800gx2

Where can it be bought. Not out yet? So lets not jump to conclusions. Especially since the new 9600gt wasnt that great, compared to already available comparative cards.

Patience on the other hand leads to nothing at all. There will always be a product "soon to be released"(reality - in half a year)

So maybe just one ultra will be enough. Without AA that is...

9600gt is actually meant to be really good considering it is their midrange card supposed to be priced under $150 and about equals current 8800 performance levels for most purposes.
