    PC PS3 Flak Cannon 2ndary

Why is the arc the same between the two?

It makes sense for a controller, but does not respond properly to a mouse.

Can we have a checkbox for the arc (the same way the TL had a checkbox in 2k4)?

No because then it would actually change the way the flak ball flies and change gameplay too much, when someone shoots flak at you, you have to guess if it's the new way or the old way.

It takes time. I hated the flak secondary at first. You learn to use it at medium range after a while, and primary close up.

The truth was that in ut 2004 a flak ball to the head followed by a primary would strike down any opponent without them having a chance to react. You can't do the instant kill thing so easily now.

My problem with the flak secondary is that the aim is inconsistent. If you are aiming at nothing, the flak ball will have Arc A. If you are aiming at a target, like a power node, the ball will have Arc B. The ball has different trajectories depending on whether you are aiming at something or nothing, and that sucks. It's like it's trying to autoaim a little for you, but it goes way out of wack sometimes. I have some custom weapons that are based on the flak cannon and they only exaggerate the problem. There is something wonky with the flak secondary.

          Yeah... It is strange.

Even though I've gotten used to it, the flak secondary has a very unnatural feel to it when it fired... It fires with upward trajectory, even when you are pointing straight ahead. As a result, it's like it has an upward curve at the end of the barrel.

This is why you have to aim at your feet to hit a guy out in front of you.

It sticks out, because it is the only gun in the game that just doesn't feel right.

But once you hit a top rated opponent in mid jump with a flak ball, you know you're starting to get the measure of the weapon.

It's different, certainly, at short range, yes it's aim at feet, but at medium distance, it starts making sense.

Flak primary up close is 1 hit kill. You don't have to do a combo anymore.

Yes, the trajectory is effed. But I never really liked to use it anyway, so I'm not terribly upset by it.

CaptainSnarf, are you talking about the PS3? Because the PC doesn't have any kind of aim assistance for online play. I can't say I've ever tested it the way you're claiming it works, I've just never noticed this problem.

Bring back the UT99 flak secondary style or at least the 2k4 one...:P

You can kill someone with any weapon but the flak's so wrong for everyone so why they don't listend to us? We, well I' am trying to love UT3 (yes trying cause I can't really feel it) and I think epic should do some changes that will at least help a lot for the gameplay!

I don't mid the lob that much but they need to make it more consistent, there's no reason to have that sort of aim assist on the flak

how is this any different from dodging incoming translocators to prevent telefragging?

and you won't have to guess - you'll still SEE the ball coming (high or low trajectory).
