    Thanks Lillien!

D2F- i did manage to get a Rampage and a few double kills...i wasnt going for "spectacular" i was going for "entertaining" and "blow sh*t up while rocking to some cool music"
thats what i was going for.

my videos arent really spectacular gameplay wise because im not that good a player,
so i focus more on the synergy between action on screen and the music.
and if it makes you think or you enjoyed it then my job is done.

plus it adds to the community of gaming video while hopefully sharpening my video making skills ...at which i learn somethingn new everyday.

i havent really tried Divx format yet because i want the widest audience,
and right now thats you tube and WMV format because everyone has the media player.
so i shoot for that format. if i go Divx then i lose a % of the audience that refuses to install the player.

i would like to learn how to get better quality on you tube tho.
    flash video is so fuzzy...

If you're worried about quality, upload to the stage6 site at http://www.stage6.com/. This allows much better quality videos and always streams better too.

How can you leave the tank alone to get down to the centre nodes on foot? :x

Anyways, glad you like tanks, there's a lot more you can do with them. :P

Edit: @"people play for fun etc...": If he calls his video an "ownage" video, I also expect to see some ownage. :P

IMO a video should contain something spectacular. This one did not. Sorry.

    Thanks Brad...glad you enjoyed it.

Facestomper...those vids you posted to me are freakin PHENOMENAL.
those guys are doing alot more than drag n drop into the timeline, and click "render"
which is pretty much the way i do mine. but one has to learn by doing...and seeing what others do and learning from their magic ... those are magical videos
so much layered stufff happening and i seee some animation techniques too...
way outside my class...and the video quality....wow...ok time to try out Fraps again.

lol and DarkPulse posted to my vid at you tube
and pointed out all my glaring errors in gameplay.
thanks bro, i dont mind a constructive review either of gameplay or video technique.
    both are fine to me.

hey, thanks Facestomper some good pointers there.

I use Premiere Elements for most of my down n dirty videos.
it works best at rendering to Wmv format and also to m2v files for making DVD.
wanna see more of my stuff? go here
theres a bit more than just gaming videos, but most of my stuff is there.
and if you like to ROCK, youll be right at home...

its about building action with the music.

Yeah, I dont get why people rag on other's game play in the movies they make. I mean, you are suppose to play video games FOR FUN, so any movie you make of you playing a video game should be made FOR FUN too.

User made movies are awesome and do a lot to add to the community. The more the better. Picking apart someone's skills in a non constructive way just discourages people from making movies. Its a hell of a lot harder to make a movie then it looks too.

Anyways, I look forward to watching more UT3 movies from you in the future

Im not sure what the best way to do it in this game, but in other games it was like this:

    -Use in-game demo recording.
-Play back the demo with frame rate capped at 30fps (if you can, in the game editor so you can use diferent view angles etc).
-Use fraps to record your demo.
-Edit the fraps video in an editor so you can put together different scenes and layer music on top(windows movie maker is the easy way, you can get fancy with other more exotic editors).
-compress (windows movie maker can do this or use something else)
    -upload to a site

Here are a couple of examples of really well done ut 2k4 movies imo:

    FACESTOMPER:
umm i use an external recorder so i can mix the music that plays
    as i play the game.

it adds to the adrenaline rush.
i havent tried to make a proprietary UT3 demo yet...so....

i just wish you tube had better quality.
limiting me to 100 megs really hurts in the quality dept.
esp if the vid is long.
it means more compression and quality loss .

my best exp quality wise is Fraps, but it takes a hit to the system...
i can host wmv format from my blog and the quality there is very good.

this method uses no resources and i have a dvd when im done.
i can watch it on TV or a friends house or post it on the web.

theres pros and cons, and im willling to listen to anyone who might have an idea or method they use.

Why did you use an external recorder? I thought UT3 recorded demos. Wouldn't it be easier and look better to record a demo and then play it back and use something like fraps to capture it?
