    South East Asian servers please

Hi, i live in SIngapore and i just got my copy of UT3 for PC last week, thinking that i can finally get some proper online, twitch reflex FPS action. i have always loved this genre and UT3 is the only such shooter in the market right now.

Needless to say i was so darn disappointed when i went online and discovered that there were no proper SEA servers with a ping lower than 100. The closest one is perhaps the SA server situated in Australia and even then, its ping hovers around 150, which is unplayable for a game this fast.

I am using a cable connection with speeds of 8mbps and have no problems of delay or lag playing other games online, and hence this is definitely not an issue with my internet connection - there is simply just a lack of servers.

Fruitless as it may seem, im hoping that Epic can setup a server perhaps in Malaysia or Singapore, because the SGD$55 i paid is as good as wasted as long as i cannot play a proper match online. Come on, what good is a shooter if you cant even play online with other people, which is especially true when the single player campaign is only remotely interesting. I understand that Epic may not be legally obliged to do so (im too lazy to read the Terms) but rest assured that many SEA players would not hesitate to skip future Epic shooter titles if this atrocious neglect for SEA gamers is not rectified. Note that this is not a threat of any kind. Its just that i cant help but feel hugely disappointed because the UT franchise has always been excellent, and betrayed because i paid money for this online-centric game but ironically am unable to find a server with low ping to have an enjoyable online experience.

It seems that no one is playing anymore, in SEA at least, because there is simply just insufficient low ping servers in this region.

Thanks if some attention can be given to this and further thanks if there can be some official reply.

Anyway, if there are any Singaporeans reading this forum, feel free to add me on your friend list: sanzen

I'll have to agree. The lack of South East Asian servers just killed any chance of this game being popular here. There used to be tons of 2k4 servers from Japan though. I'm not sure what happened... Maybe they didn't like the whole weeabooness of the whole Ronin thing.

Setting up a server by myself isn't exactly viable for a student like myself either. Maybe when I'm working, I could set up a server for UT4 or something, but today, that's not a possibility I can give UT3.

I own UT3 on the PS3. and thinking i would get to play online..
But the lowest ping i get is 265 -300. And I live in the Philippines.
If there was a dedicated server in Singapore or the Philippines the pings would be under 100. There's also a user server thats in Tokyo and that has 190 ping.

Its not fun to play with a 2 second lag and have to guess where the enemy will be just to get a chance to frag him. And my internet connection is 0.78mb something..

Dedicated servers in Asia are incredibly expensive. That's probably why no-one has set up one yet. I don't expect Epic or Midway to host any servers outside of North America (USA) or Europe (UK). (Are there any Epic servers in mainland Europe?) Bandwidth and server space jack up the price in Asia.

I think your best chance of getting a South East Asian server would be to set one up yourself, sadly.

Currently I setup a server and people do join but I would really enjoy playing on official servers. There are definitely enough people in Asia who have UT3 on PS3 to make it worth while to setup just a few servers (like 3-5) in Asia. Maybe one in Hong Kong, one in Singapore, and one in Japan.

Basically it's up to the people in SEA to set up servers, that's how it's allways have been. I have never played on an official server, all have been hosted by the community. Epic should consider putting one up down there to boost the server building though, but in the end people and clans need to see to that servers are available.

You know I wouldn't mind hosting a dedicated server if I didn't need to buy another PS3 to do so!

it's either buy another ps3 or buy a server class pc yourself. I believe there are some server rentals there in SEA.

You can't run a PS3 server on a PC.... unfortunately. So indeed you *must* have another PS3 to run a PS3 dedicated server.
