"vista certified" LCD worth $1000 xtra?

    Hello,

Can anyone tell me wth the difference between these two monitors is.

Looks like one has DVI and is "Vista Certified" (whatever that means). However, the vista certified one is $900 more.

Also, if anyone has a suggestions for a good large monitor, I'd be interested. (30" plus)

No built-in speakers on the expensive one.... Which is a good thing.

No but afaik, speakers degrade the quality of the LCD over time.

Not exactly, the more expensive one weighs an extra 16.5 pounds so you are still getting more for your money.

The "Vista Certified" one also has a response time of 16ms!

I don't know if that is normal for a 30"+, but for games and full-motion video (HD Movies) on most LCDs you want a maximum of 8ms -- Preferably 5-2ms (BTB) if you can get it.

the contrast ratio and response times are much better on the cheaper model....16ms response time on the "vista certified" one is unacceptable for gaming.

"vista certified" is just a name...don't pay extra for that.

also, i'd recommend a higher resolution than 1366x768...it's pretty low...personally i'd go with either a smaller monitor with a way higher resolution or this 46" viewsonic with full 1080p for $2399:
