Slow INstallation Problems

This is a bit out of topic but i really need some help.
I have 2 xp installed on separate hardrives.
It take hours to install the game on my main windows
It take only few minutes to install the game on the other hardrive, and the installation is super fast.
Is there anyway i can fix the issue on my main windows?

how are your hard drives setup? IDE / SATA ... seperate channels, or primary master primary slave etc

the setup are SATA

The slow hdd may be failing... I've noticed when things start getting slow, like installation, defragmenting, startup etc, then soon enough a "hard disk boot failure" occurs.. But thats with me. Perhaps it may be something else but i cant think what it might be.

This is exactly what I'm experiencing
I tried defragmenting today and it took me 8 hours for only 60gig out of 80
startup very slow
instalation of any program very slow
ONly web surfing is normal
