I have a 8600 GT vid card. Last night I was playing online and then out of nowhere, my screen goes all black for a second and then the game comes back as if nothing happened. I minimized my game and checked if anything was running on my desktop to see if that could have caused this. But nothing, only my fraps was running. It did this like 2 or3 times more. I've been playing this game for like 3 weeks now and never encountered a problem like this. I havn't played the game since but I will in a second to see if it happens again. Does anyone know the reason/cause and how to fix this?

Sorry to say, but I have a 8600GT as well but I've never encountered your problem.
Can you specify your computer specs and NVIDIA driver-version?

well it happened to me on avalanche two fronts and I played again, didn't seem to happen again.
          and For Froooom:
          AMD ATHLON 64 Processor
          2.20GHz
          2.00 GB of RAM
and how do I check the Nvidia driver version info? Sorry I'm not that good with comps.

Sounds like your video card is getting HOT!! When every you see flashes, screen going back or video tearing your video card is getting hot! I suggest you check it out!!

8600GTs do run pretty hot. I had one for a while and it was constantly around 85 degrees C when playing UT3.

                Update your graphics card drivers..
that could always be the problem....anyways anything to do with graphics cards just restart your computer/check for updates/update your drivers/ if everything fails...bring it bakc to teh store and get a new one..
