Keybinding to mouse issues

I've got an MS Intellimouse Explorer 3 which has, in addition to the left and right mouse buttons and wheel mouse click two buttons on the side (which I use for back and forward in browser windows).

Any hints on how I can bind a command (I don't know, like Jump or Crouch) to those buttons?

Can you assign keystrokes to those buttons? Logitech software allows you to bind almost any key to any button, then you can bind it in a game as a keyboard key. Maybe you can do the same.

same mouse, no problems binding things to the side buttons via the menu

Hmm, looks like I was making it too complilcated. Thanks for the pointer, that's done the trick.
