How does the ranking system work?

Yes on the PC at least. In game leaderboards, click on "Server Type." That brings up a separate leaderboard and personal stats for non pure servers.

Yes I know how to view them separately, but I'm saying I believe the rank itself is separate from either server.

Not an easy solution, rather an easy way to ignore it. I didn't say I'm boycotting the game, but if my rank was not important to me, then I never would spoken a word on it.

There is your problem right there, stop playing custom ones, and stick to pure...people have all kinds of mods/mutators, and you are not likely to meet the top ranked players , nor go up. I have played a handfull (5-6) of custom server matches, and im ranked 600 or something....

The PS3 version of the game is too slow without the Speed Freak mutator. I ALWAYS have it on in my matches. I feel like I'm running under water in other people's matches and the game is unplayable for me. Besides, aren't custom and pure server rankings separate?

So you're telling me, despite the fact that I have 25,000 total kills (the most I have seen under anyone's name on Custom Server PS3 DM matches), this is the reason for my rank taking a nosedive, even though I end most matches with a ratio of something like 40/9, 40/13, 40/6, 40/19??? I can't help it if I'm getting gang raped and end up catching a single bullet from a low ranked player. Its Unreal Tournament! Nobody is safe. I was thinking all this time, even back with UT2K4, that maybe it was just an error in the system. I have dropped all the way from rank 9 overall to 71. I look at other people's stats and they are nowhere near mine, yet they're sitting in the top 10. Then I see this one guy, who doesn't even play (and I know this because his numbers do not change), constantly sitting at #1. This makes no sense to me. I'll go through sessions and not lose a single DM, yet my ranking drops lower than where it was before I turned the game on. Its frustrating and its not like I'm going to single out who's who before I kill them or get killed. Its a free for all and I want to allow everyone to enjoy the game. This ranking system, however, is really annoying me.

It's a little screwier then it will be one day. The Elo ratings haven't matured yet. The highest Elo rating is constantly getting higher and so is the average. The best ranked people might all be playing in a server halfway around the world that you don't get a good ping at. Because you don't play with them your rating isn't going up as fast. It's just a theory.

Like someone said on the first page, they should probably split up the rankings into different gametypes. Because ELO seems to be best in DM, where killing better players is the aim. But in games like Warfare, it's about teamwork and successfully taking nodes, destroying key targets(goliaths etc.) and whatnot. So Warfare should work on a different system, maybe one akin to the ones in the BF series where they get proper points for teamwork(repairing, node-taking, defending the prime node etc.).

That way people could effectively see WHY those people are on the top of the rankings.

I went from a lil less than 1000(nothin to brag about) to 5200+ in less than 2 days!!....any ideas wtf happened?

Don't worry about it ,other players might have multiple profiles lowering you as they take these up. I know it's possible to get to around 3000 in a couple of days not even playing many games or anything from starting a new profile. This sadly says more about how small the active community is. Even then at certain points progress hits the wall - not playing higher ranked players and silly errors.

im usually just below 1000... best i have ranked so far is 500. it seems to bounce alot between 600-1200 depending on who i play with. it does usually get better when i play gagainst better players but not always. mostly rank just gives me a headache so i dont pay too much attention

I'm fighting for it! Problem is, other people want it too. DeeTach actually passed up Slythe for a little but, so I'm starting to wonder if third or fourth is my destiny. Then after that it's gonna be 6 or 7, then 9 or 10. I'll just have to bask in it while I can

1.) You ranked at 200 and someone also ranked at 200

You play 1vs1 duell! I lose 2-10! What do you expact in ranking?

2) If you ranked at 200 and someone ranked at 20000

You play duell! I lose 2-10! How the ranking will be in that case?

I expect you to keep your rank, since you didn't play. The match was between me and 'someone', and since the outcome is unknown, the rank difference is too.
