How does the ranking system work?

Oh please, not this again. I play thirty hours a week since the beta demo came out, and I've only seen a hacker 1 time, and I can't even confirm that. Just because people can aim doesn't mean they're hacking, and if you've seen wall-hacks, why don't you make a demo of it? I don't believe you, sorry.

Maybe a couple but most are DM players.

Taking these ratings/rankings to be accurate gauges of skill is problematic at best. More important gauges are the percentages, weapon stats, eff (not included, K/D will have to do), item pickups, and such to get a feel for how a player plays. For instance, you can tell there are some DMers out there that use 50% rockets and collect every bit of armor and health and camp rocket/health/armor/DD routes exclusively.

Ranking is based on ELO Chess ranking.
Everyone starts with the lower rank limit 0. Points are based on how often you trigger positive personal score events, e.g. kills, captures, assists, etc. Against your score are deaths, suicides, teamkills, opposing team scores, etc.
The lower the rank of the other player or team is, against whom you score, the less points you will get, so the ripping of weak opponents will get you less rank points, than beating a stronger (in rank) opponent.
Team Scores?
Aside from the individual player scoring in team based gametypes (TDM, CTF, BR, AS, ONS, DD), there are also Team Scores, that are awarded to your team as a whole, for fulfilling a gametype specific objective:
Team Deathmatch - killing a player from the other team.
Capture the Flag - capturing the flag.
Bombing Run - either throwing the ball through the goal, or jumping through the goal holding the ball.
Assault - achieving the final objective.
Onslaught - destroying the enemy core.
Double Domination - 'holding' both domination points for more than 10 seconds.
I just wanted to post this here for anyone else interested in how it works. This is from UT2004 but we can presume it's similar to UT3

Every single player in the top 20 plays in the UMG Warfare server enough that I remember their names. Except FlinstoneRO1234, I don't recognize that one.
@PyroFiRE: RPGWiZARD has been ranking in the top 10 for a little while now
